Title: Weird products you've seen for sale (possibly NSFW)
Post by: TIfanx1999 on June 15, 2014, 08:16:34 am
So, post weird products you've come across for sale. I spotted this one today:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pocket-Underwear-from-Stashitware-Pocket-Briefs-tighty-whities/300696355118?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222003%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D22696%26meid%3D7635183964926224908%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D9176%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D281360219390&rt=nc

It's underwear that has a pocket sewn into the front... You know, for keeping all your junk. :P

I can't imagine that being legal. It'd have to violate all sorts of health regulations.

A TI-81 for $5

I want it :(

Weirdness: they have those? And haven't thrown them away? If you sell one on ebay, you are not a programmer.

I followed some ebay deals for those for some time and got pretty lucky :)
The thing is that you have to look for articles that do NOT end weekends or in evenings. Else everybody will be online to bid for it.

A brand new, factory sealed copy of F-Zero SNES on Ebay.

Not exactly weird, but what was stupid was the description, which said cleaned and tested. How do you clean a SNES cartridge without opening/unsealing the package? :P

One weird item for sale I saw in a Zellers store in 2012 was a Zellers employee uniform O.O (when they started closing to make way for Target). Don't get me started on that $1159.60 mattress (after the 80% off discount) O.O

Also lol @ that description for cleaned and tested.

Indeed. I think the liquidation company wanted to make as much money as possible when bringing the item into the closing store (near the end we started seeing plenty of arriving stock that the store never carried before the closing sale started, mainly from Home Outfitters and The Bay), so they probably marked up the price high enough so that after 80% off it's still the regular price.

On the other hand that kinda sucks for people who live in North America and work from 8AM-5PM from Monday to Friday >.<. My favorite are auctions that end very late at night, such as 4 AM, on weekdays, because if sleeping is an issue, I can simply take a nap then wake up to bid on the item before going to bed again. By then, most people are in bed and only Europeans/Asians are waking up, so it only becomes a problem if the item ships worldwide.

Not really a weird product per se, but on Ebay.co.uk, there's currently an auction for Game Boy Color and a game or two. The problem, however, is that we can see the seller's penis in one of the items pic. O.O

Not sure if this is why the highest bid is currently in the thousands of dollars

I'm pretty sure his dick isn't an included accessory. :P

Weird, but cool one I've seen: a Nintoaster! That is, an original NES rebuilt as a top-loader and put into a toaster.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nintoaster-NES-Nintendo-/151335369481?pt=Video_Games&hash=item233c4a7b09 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nintoaster-NES-Nintendo-/151335369481?pt=Video_Games&hash=item233c4a7b09)

Similar to what the Angry Video Game Nerd uses. I like the AVGN's better though as it is a classic looking stainless steel toaster. :D

*edit* Vid showing off the AVGN's actual Nintoaster:

THat is awesome AOC.

As for the GBC auction, I think the large $8000 or so bid got removed or my phone glitched up because now I checked and it's £60.00 with 39 bids. It also has 20 inquiries, which, I bet, are most likely about the questionable pic :P.

Three Pokémon games (Red, Blue and Silver), along with two purple Gameboy Colors and the link cable appear to be included.

Wow, I'm glad I don't live in Canada. Eh, that's not the first time someone tries to sell that for 10 times the price. But still, why would they do that?

Holy hell O.O, I sure hope it's a pack of 10 calcs and that the title forgot to mention it. In brick and mortar stores, a TI-84+ normally goes for a bit over $140 in Canada and if you are lucky you can pick one for $110. The 83+ still has its outrageous pricetag of $125 during most of the year, although you can grab TI-Nspire CX calcs for $150 on a regular basis, which is pretty much on-par with US prices.

On the other hand, buying stuff online from Canadian sellers is sometimes cheaper than US sellers, even if the item has an higher price tag, because you save $40 on shipping. However, some online sellers in Canada, especially people who sell NES/SNES games, sometimes take advantage of the lower shipping rate to jack up their prices so that price+shipping is just about $1-2 under the US price+shipping.

EDIT: I forgot if I posted this (WARNING: NSFW-ish) before but those are children toys . WTF at the Hitler doll O.O http://www.chuitropquebecois.com/28-cadeaux-quaucun-enfant-ne-devrait-rec/
