You know, your social status? I'm just wondering if being a computer nerd has any bearing on this.

Yes, bachelor means you are single and looking. This includes if you have your eye on a specific person.
"Other" would be any social status that doesn't fit any of those social norms up here. Use your imaginations.

Other means things such as your lover is either a Transmute Alien from Mars or just your hand. I.E, Mr. Garrison fits this category perfectly.

Actually, bachelor specifically refers to unmarried males. It has no connotation in regards to desire to date or not, just FYI.
*edit* Other could cover divorced, separated, or in an open relationship. LGBT individuals would fall under the same dating categories as anyone else, not other.

Just because I once almost crashed a calc in class(don't do integrals as the limits of integrals on Nspires. It ran for 5 min without anything visibly happening.) does not mean I'd kill calcs
Some people also find me extremely mean because I don't like to sugarcoat my words

Here at school it was not nerds that killed calcs. It was usually the tough guys :P
Btw what do you mean by sugarcoat? Because over text here it seemed pretty fine. Some people on other sites were extremly rude by nature, but I do not find you rude so far (although I don't check every post lol). That said the tone is sometimes different over text, tho.

I don't try to make things sound nice I just say them. I also don't think enough about all that i say. those two are probably linked. I do it more so IRL than on comp

Oh ok. Well IMHO that is not too bad compared to those who are purposely rude to others (like I saw on some other forums). THat said one advice I want to give, though, is to be open-minded if someone gets offended or something, though. I remember some ppl getting offended at someone because he was rude and the person just said "I will say whatever I want, if you don't like it then f* off" x.x

I also have a rather high percentage of violent kids in my class(It the higher level class. some people probably bribed there way in though they rich and not very smart). those are the ones that find me most annoying(possibly becasue I do nt lke people attacking me and get them to stop)

Ugh I hate those people. I didn't have physical violence issues but more verbal. In my case, though, most kids who did that were not necessarly rich kids, but ones where parents let them do everything they want without caring about them, and giving them everything they want so kids leave parents alone and go out to smoke weed or just play the new video game they buy every week instead.
There are some rich kids that makes fun of others too, though, but they generally don't spend as much time doing so. Often, it's jealous kids that will make fun of others to make themselves look superior and a few richer ones who are full of themselves and think they're superior to others due to their money.

I have gotten used to verbal violence over the past 3 years and now mostly ifnore it. there are a few things that really make me blow up. Thankfully no one in my current school knows of those.
The rich(well the ones you can easily tell are rich) ones aren't too bad. It s just a few. I made peace with one by letting him borrow my Linux Mint LiveCD(its only 10 though)

Yeah that's what I did as kid eventually, although first year of high school in '98-99 was so extreme that I suffered a huge setback and some mental issues. I never really recovered from it (I would try ignoring people who makes fun of me, but I would still be hurt to a certain extent, by certain things)

My mindset about the world has changed almost completely over the past 3 years(the time I've been really verbally abused). I now at least others seem to be an exceptionally cynical person in my beliefs and am an atheist instead of Christian(methodist). I still get hurt by some things people say but I've learned to live pretty well with that pain. I not sure how well I'll recover from it and not sure if I want to completely get away from my new mindset. Now I do need to get away from the depression that comes with some of it. I do get some happiness each day out of things like this site programming etc.

I got verbally abused too I think, but never took it personal... Seems nothing could hinder my happiness. What is depressing, though, is when it comes from my family (my bro is evil D:)...
Also, back on the subject, it's kinda hard when your classroom is 100% male. Or when there's one female, she's taken.

I actually recently broke it off with by gf, and i have to say im feeling a lot better and just not ready to get back into the game for a while. Plus i'm gonna be moving to santa cruz in a year and a half so don't want to get too committed :P

I'm single, but I do want to date. The problem is irl you could say I'm kinda shy. The other thing is when I started to high school 2 years ago I only knew about 8 people and those are people I knew, not necessarily my friends. But I've been recovering and I'm hoping to find a date for homecoming this fall.

Nah its fine, in fact I'm feeling a lot better now that I'm out. Thats when you know you made the right choice.

Yeah, I remember you talking about this on that "We're Pregnant" thread on Cemetech. While being married is truly awesome, there are many people who are still successful and happy even if they cannot. In the case of this thread, you should probably vote "Prefer not to answer" so that we can get accurate proportions for those surveyed.
Oh, and remember to change your votes if your relationship status changes. :D

Since people have pretty much stopped voting by now, I'd like to compare these results with that of the general population and the "nerd" population. So, could someone please point me to a concise source where I can learn this? Thanks!

Maybe you should make and distribute a similar survey to your school perhaps?

YeaH I think it would be a good idea. Also if you got a generic job like at a supermarket you could try to ask people if they want to fill a survey or something, although Idk if it would be allowed or not. I bet the nerd/geek ratio at such job is much is much lower than at school. :P

I laughed when I read about this yesterday. I think he would put "Other" since his bride is not a human. :P
Yeah, I think it would be a good idea to do a general school survey, but that only represents a small, teenage demographic, and ignores all the college kids and possibly adults here.
