Title: What I've been up to
Post by: TIfanx1999 on December 04, 2009, 07:40:48 am
Hello everybody! I see alot of new faces here so some of you may not know me. I used to be staff here and have been keeping up with the TI community on and off since 98. Anyhow, around June or so I disappeared. I hadn't completed any recent projects and had kind of lost interest. I also started doing amateur voice acting around that time period and that has been taking up some of my free time. I really enjoy it and it's something I am currently pursuing. However, portable platforms have always held a certain allure for me, and I can't ever seem to leave them behind. I blame my parents for getting me that original gameboy back in 1989. There have been alot of great works going on since I've been gone. Calcmaniac continues to amaze with TI-BOY and chips challenge 8 lvl grayscale (which btw looks great on my TI-83+ BE, but doesn't work properly on my TI-83+SE. If no one has documented this I'll post a video of it later), not to mention F-Zero or TI-BOY for the Nspire(eventually) that is being written in ARM ASM now. =) Iambian continues to press forward with The Lost Legends (renamed Shadows of Escheron now? What ever happened to Grendel anyway?) which also looks amazing. I am glad someone that is dedicated to it finally picked it up! =) And lets not forget Illustait (spelling?) 13. It's a shame it isn't finished yet, which is the only reason I have yet to play it. Ah well maybe someday. ;) The metroid eske BASIC game in production by Buliderboy looks really neat as well, and If memory serves there is also a really cool looking version of Shift out. Digitan is still hammering away at the massive Robot Wars... Oh! and all the keys for signing OSes and APPS have been cracked! Not much has changed really aside from that. ;) I plan to be around a bit more, and there are some projects I'd like to work on... but who knows. I never seem able to make the time so we'll just have to see on that one.

P.S. I also see you guys do Skype conferences now, I'd love to join and chat sometime!

Nice to see you still around. To be honest, I wasn't too happy when you left because I don't really like when someone joins staff then suddently dissapears without ever saying anything, not even responding to PMs asking why, though. :( But I am still glad you still visit from time to time. I think I might have saw your nick on some voice acting forums when doing some google search, altough I was not sure if it was the same Art_Of_Camelot.

Either way it would kinda be cool if you made another 83+ game or something. I am afraid Illusiat 13 kinda died, though, due to certain events in July. You might as well play what is done now, since only the final dungeon is missing, really. As for Grendel he got banned for causing trouble :(

Yea, sorry about just up and vanishing out of the blue. It wasn't really intentional... weeks became months time just passed. I was absolutely ok with you downgrading me to a regular member, and your reasoning as to why I left was correct as I had mentioned it to you before, just didn't announce it officially. I have no Idea why you were googling voice acting, O_o but if you came across my name it was likely me as I do have an account on a voice acting board under the same name. =) Nice to see everyone is still very welcoming! Thanks for the warm reception guys! =) As for Illusiat and Grendel, it's a shame on both accounts.  :(

*Edit* As I said, I'd like to work on a couple of games... just time and motivation involved... well you know how that can be. ;) Plus, I think I'd really want to make them in ASM, and so far I have failed at learning it... I dunno we'll see. I have ideas. ;)

Welcome back.  I'm new (as of May) to calc forums, so I doubt if you know me.  Good luck with programming! :)

Actually, I didn't googled Voice acting, I just googled "art_Of_camelot" for fun, like I did with other ppl nicknames before (including mine) and lot of sites and youtube vids with your nick in it involving voice acting popped up :P

Also games don't need to be in ASM to be good really. They could simply be using xLIB/Celtic/Omnicalc or the new BBC Basic interpreter for the 83+, altough for the former you would obviously not be able to do something that requires a lot of speed and with lot of stuff moving around :P

Also, we indeed to Skype conferences, altough they are not occuring at a regular rate. I don't mind talking to people outside conferences, though, while I am not at work, so I am often connected to DJ_Omnimaga (my screenname on skype)
