Nope, it pops a value into pc :P
Which can be used for ending a program, but also other things.

yeah, it's the exact same as POP PC (if POP allowed PC as an argument) -- it pops the top two bytes into the program counter, which sets the place in memory where instructions are to be read from.

And, to expand upon it, the instruction CALL pushes the current program counter value onto the stack, and goes to the area in memory specified by the argument.  When you use ret then, it pops to PC again and will return to the place of the call, but 3 bytes (the size of the call instruction) ahead.  ;)

Still doesn't make sense because it sounds like "Prepare for the return of the world." RET is RETurn, as in returning control to wherever a routine was called. It could be used to quit a program, end a subroutine, or (in hackish code) jump somewhere random. In fact, it's more a data/hardware routine than anything else -- it simply pops the value at the top of the stack into PC. The closest thing to an actual end is the .end command in TASM, which signals the end of the file, but yeah, I keep reading it as "return of the world" :P
