Title: Where I've Been
Post by: {AP} on June 03, 2010, 11:06:30 pm
Intro
As you guys may have noticed, my activity has been pretty low recently. A number of things have come up, but the most important thing is college.
Since it's started up, things have just been different. Getting used to having to live on my own now and a whole bunch of other things I never had to worry about. Everything's fine and all, just so different and I find that I'm doing less and less of what I normally do for some reason.

Calc Stuff
I still have mine and use it for my math class, but I haven't really done any programming recently. Made a quick 2-36 base converter, but that's about it. I'm not sure how much I will be programming at all anymore. I used to start all my projects in math class (where all I had was a calculator) and continue them at home because I didn't want to stop... but now I'm not starting anything because I need to actually work to make sure I pass. Still, maybe I'll think of something for this Axe contest. We'll just have to wait and see.

Web Stuff
I'm maintaining all my previous sites but some changes and new stuff is in the works.
Conclusion
I'm still working and everything's great... I've just found less time to post these days. Especially because the forum activity is mostly Axe right now, which is something I know very, very little about so I've kinda out grown my usefulness a bit early. ^^;
I may work on learn Axe too later... but I'm also thinking I should just stick to Basic (or CIII). It's what I'm good at and if it completely dies out later, so be it. I'll keep coding in it.

Not sure how my activity will be... but I'll keep lurking and let you guys know when anything happens.

Hey, I was wondering where you had been recently. I'm glad things are going well for you, and there certainly isn't anything wrong with being busy with school. Best of luck with college, and stop in here when you have time! =D

Sorry to hear you migth not code for calcs a lot anymore, but the most important thing and what I am happy the most about lately is that everything is going OK. I'M glad your life stuff is getting better. Btw that Dragon Tavern site looks nice and I like the XKCD apr 1st site (altough you showed it to me before).

I hope you stick around for a while even if less active. Also don't worry too much about Axe discussion. personally I doubt Celtic/xLIB/BASIC is going to die, except maybe during the contest since a lot of people are entering it, but BASIC will always stay alive (like it did on the 89 despite TIGCC arrival). I still need to finish Illusiat 13, after all, too, and two of the last ticalc features were BASIC games :P (altough one is for the TI-81).

Yeah, I'm sorry about that Geekboy. I just didn't have the needed help or the motivation to keep working on it. It would've helped if I was able to keep playing the card games... but what's done is done.

And thanks for the support everyone. =)
I'm definitely not going anywhere anytime soon, so don't worry.

Welcome back!

The reason the Axe forum has kind of exploded over the last few days is that the program got featured on tical, THEN omnimaga announced the Axe programming contest, and THEN the programming contest got featured on ticalc as well.  Its really crazy right now, I try to be as helpful as possible but I can barely keep up with the posting there.  Luckily there's some other members who know the language well enough to fill in the gaps.

Cool web stuff by the way :)

And on my side I am stuck with the french sub-forum XD (and still suck at most Axe stuff so I can barely awnser lol)

And yeah the Axe sub-forum was crazy, especially the first month it opened and the last week or two. It reminds me the MLC craze in the Casio community in early 2005. Sadly MLC never reached anything functional on the 83+ and was a bit harder and more limited (and much larger) so I am not sure if it would have got very popular on the 83+ x.x

You can be active in the TI-BASIC subforum, it has some discussion or you can start one.
I don't go too much into Axe Parser discussion, sometimes I help with some asm stuff...

I liked the "Dragon Tavern: Boss Hunter" idea. It would be cool to reveal the coolest bosses to defeat that you can find in RPGs in PC or consoles.

Hm, that is an interesting idea. This site will focus on Dragon Tavern (http://dragontavern.com/) and evolve into a full fansite, but that's a cool idea for another site. I even already have all the code I would need for it. =P

Yeah, I'm making it. You're a genius, Galandros. =D

And, I understand the explosion of Axe. I saw this coming months ago. Axe really is a great language... but that's what it is... another language. I just can't learn ANOTHER language right now, but that doesn't mean I won't ever learn it. We'll just have to wait and see.

I find it not too hard to learn since I had BASIC knowledge, but the hard part can be to understand the pointers concept at first and later in which order to use the commands for APPVAR storage. However It can be hectic to learn multiple languages at once, especially when you are busy x.x
