Title: Why My Activity Has Dropped
Post by: Eeems on March 15, 2010, 12:48:55 am
Ok, I've decided to kind of update you all on why I haven't been on IRC and I dont post as much. First of all, I don't have as much time anymore. Then comes the part where I'm trying to rebuild my social life, which I kind of ruined last year by regressing into programming and online communities (namely TI forums). I also have a girlfriend (well You know what I mean if you were on IRC a few months ago) and because she lives an hour away I sometimes go months without seeing her (4 has been the most so far). Because of that I focus more on her then the community (especially after just seeing her, which I did yesterday).
I do not I tend to leave, or give up programming at all (I intend to program for a living) but my activity is and will be less then it was when I first started.
I decided that I should let you know though so that you can understand why my activity has slowly dropped.
I do try to check the forum every day, but I don't always end up posting or reading everything I would like to. Rest assured though, I will not leave the community.

Good to know dude, It's also good to have a social life in real life as well as online. I for one know how hard it can be to juggle the two effectively. :P When things go wrong in real life, my activity level usually plummets online.

Thanks for the update, and good luck juggling everything you have going on.

Thanks guys. Well I do feel happier now that my social life is rebuilding but it is kind of sad that it as at the expense of my ability to stay as active as I like on here.
@ AroneusTheGreat: well it's kind of the opposite for me, when things go wrong IRL my activity spikes because I kind of close myself off and stay online more, which isn't actually that healthy.

Healthy is relative to the individual.

I agree about Health being related to the individual, i am known to sleep 16 hours in a day, sometimes not getting outside at all, but that is pretty standard for me :X
anyway I hope it all goes well for you Eeems :O

I totally understand, I am glad things are better for you in real life now :) . Hoping of course you will not eventually fully move on from the TI scene and still sometimes show up on IRC or MSN from time to time, like Simplethinker and Dinhotheone did :( . I also hope you get ungrounded soon (calc) x.x

I kind of wish I lived in an area where I could actually have a good social life, too. The thing is that it can be rather hard when your hobbies won't match anyone elses'. You just can't force yourself to do stuff you don't care about or dislike doing simply to be able to hang out with "friends". I tried a few years ago, by partying with people to please them, and I enjoyed life even less than I do right now, even if I socialized more.

Thanks again.
Yeah, if I do start leaving I will announce it, but I do not intend to, and there isn't really a real reason why I should, especially with my iPod, every morning I will at least read a few topics before going to school, and if I get to school early enough I can read a few more.
@DJ: yeah, that sucks...I at least have some of the same likes as other people I know. Hopefully you can find people who like the same things as you sometime.

Eeems, good luck with life.  Good luck rebuilding your social life!

I can't wait until you have your calc back and can program as much as you want.  ;D

Good luck Eeems!

My main worry is more loss of interest, as some ppl eventually move on from anything internet-related as they enjoy life more, altough this is a good thing for them, kinda. It would suck to not see you anymore, though :(

I hope you stick around for a while.

well re-building my social life is going well :) and I just bought a 12-pack of root-beer during my spare with my friends and it's currently in my locker :P
and don't worry guys it would take a lot (well, a little pressure from my gf could do it, but she wouldn't do that unless it was getting between us) to get me away from the calc community.

you should sell the root beer :P i have a "soda dealer" in my school who buys 12 packs of soda, keeps them in his locker, and sells like 3 between every period. he makes like $60-$80 a month xD

It would also depend on the school :P You can get in a lot of trouble doing that.

True I think it's even illegal in some school.

Well that's always a plus :P I probably would at mine...or at least if it was lunch or the morning (they have even started turning off the vending machines because the school doesn't make enough money from lunch now O.O).

over here I think schools banned soft drink vending machines and any kind of fast food because government wanted to eliminate that kind of food from them x.x

Our schools aren't allowed to sell soda, but we have a teacher with a fridge who sells them, and then another one of my friends does the same thing and sells soda out of his backpack ;D

But thats too bad about inactivity D: Its good that you are taking care of what you need to though :)

weird; we had a protest at our school against the rising cost of pizza, so seniors went out and bought a couple hundred boxes of pizza and started selling them (only seniors can leave campus).  The administration became pissed off and literally through it all away :/
