Post by: willrandship on April 14, 2011, 05:48:14 pm: My bro contacted them a while ago: Apparently, they wrote an engine that uses midi files, and then they script in all the extra stuff like lighting and camera movement. Pipe Dream, for instance, would have all the balls bouncing without input, but none of the smooth camera control.

Post by: Builderboy on April 14, 2011, 05:56:08 pm: When me and my dad first saw Pipe Dream, we thought it was real for a small bit XD Yeah they use Midi controlled instruments, they are supposedly working on a 3rd DVD but there hasn't been much progress lately :/

Yes, at low-res in 2-bit audio, but yes.

Post by: ztrumpet on May 23, 2011, 05:51:40 pm: I had a recent conversation with a member here who for now will remain nameless who said that he figured out a way to do grayscale video and play good quality music at the same time, so I'm pretty sure it's possible.

*edit* Just watched the Videos. Pretty cool stuff! Not only is the music good, but the videos are entertaining as well. Pipe dream was especially well done. It reminds me of a lot of the instrumental progressive rock. =)
