Title: Carnegie Hall
Post by: turiqwalrus on February 25, 2011, 08:27:03 am
I generally don't create music, but I wanted to say this(both to brag and to explain my absense next week)
I will be playing in Carnegie Hall next week.
I will not be available from next Wed. to the thursday a week after that.
My calculator is coming, though, so I can maybe stop procrastinating on my RPG game

Going with my school Band.

I play the Baritone Horn(to those that do not know what it is, It's a small tuba, pretty much)

Of course. Else I'd run out of calc batteries eventually ;)

Yeah it was more in reference to how some people say they might be inactive for a few weeks or are going in vacation with no Internet access for 2 weeks, say "See you then!" then after 6 months they still haven't returned. O.O

Euphonium. And thanks for being about the only person I know who actually knows the difference(Even my band director calls it a baritone :P)

Nah, it's cool.  We have some very good Euph players at my school, and I'm pretty good friends with them. :D

(Even my band director calls it a baritone :P)

I liek the Tenor sax players personally but I am a little biased (I play a tenor). The baritones in my band are horrible and we have no euphoniums. We have a few euphoniums in honors band though

D:
I feel that Euphoniums and baritones are underappreciated because so many baritone players are terrible and overwhelmed by tubas.
Then again, maybe I feel this way because I'm a euphonium player, and therefore biased.

Wow. lots of us play instruments. Ztrumpet plays the trumpet(duh), I play the euphonium, you play the tenor sax, and an uncountable number create music using software(even though that doesn't really qualify as an instrument :P)

I play my calc ;D
The last time I plugged it into a pair of speakers and played a single tone... Well, you probably don't want to know how horrible it sounded.

Many others do too.  I remember Meishe plays the trumpet as well and Sir plays the clarinet. :D

I've noticed that it seems people of a higher level of intelligence are more attracted to music
In my two separate advanced classes my first one everyone was in band or orchestra my second everyone except one person was in choir orchestra band. I find that omnimaga attracts those kind of people more. If you took a poll i bet most p[eople here do a musical activity(play an instrument, sing, make music using software)

In my school, nearly all of the nerds are in orchestra, and most everyone else is either in band, choir, or none. (no offense meant to all band and choir members)

Most "nerds" at my school (of which I am one) are in band with a few in orchestra and almost noone in choir

Not necessarily. On many other forums, even calc ones, many people are as smart, yet they don't have any interest in music. I think it might depend of what kind of interest they have in general. Maybe it's mostly people who love to code calc games.

I personally never got in a band, though. I prefered to create music in solo with electronic music composers.

i've just noticed that at my schools. I like band, and I wish they would've let me be in honors. they stuck me in symphonic because this is my first year at that school.

yeah. same here, sadly. They even stuck me in last chair even though I am a better musician than at least two other people in my section.

there is only one other tenor sax in symphonic and I'm better than him so I'll be in honors next year. The current tenor in honors is an eighth grader. ;)
We don't have tenor sax chairs...
