Title: DJ Omnimaga Music Discography Project
Post by: Jonius7 on October 14, 2011, 12:08:11 am
Hi all,
This post contains a link to a spreadsheet which contains all the necessary song information (Title, Album, Track Number, Comments etc.) for each one of DJ_O original songs. I try to keep this updated frequently.

All the song track info (Artist, Track Number, Album, Comments, Track Length etc.) you could ever want for DJ_O's Music here!!!
Full Discography!!! (Google Docs Spreadsheet) (updated as of 2012, needs updating)

My original post in this thread can be viewed in the spoiler below:
Spoiler For original post:
Hi guys, I've been planning this for a while but now I'm finally ready for this discussion. We all love to listen to DJ_O's music. Its just a bit annoying for me personally when there are missing track numbers from several albums. So over the past few weeks I thought how the information for each song/album could be tidied up.
>>> To DJ_O: I know you've said that you don't plan to create any more albums for the time being, however it'd be nice to have complete existing albums.
So to tackle this I have made a spreadsheet containing the DJ_Omnimaga original songs (all 104 of them currently in the omnimaga downloads section) and using information from the Omnimaga downloads page, the zip files available at dj.omnimaga.org (100 original songs), and the Snake X DJ Music Torrent released last year but now disbanded, I have created a list that shows where the missing information is. I have also colour coded important modifications or comments that I made myself, but I can only go so far myself. So here we are for discussion, if anyone has information to give about DJ_O's phenomenal songs this is the place to give it.

>-> Anyway the document is located here for people to look at:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aq6FkghT6iTtdHZwaGFXLTU2SXpvV0dURHJzZV9qV1E&hl=en_US (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aq6FkghT6iTtdHZwaGFXLTU2SXpvV0dURHJzZV9qV1E&hl=en_US)

Let's hope this works out.
Note: The workbook is in 3 sheets: the first second showing information copied from the downloads page on Omnimaga: the second first is a list of songs with info that has been modified by me, with information from both the Snake X torrent and dj.omnimaga.org. the third sheet is before any modifiying has taken place using information taken solely from the zip file at dj.omnimaga.org.

Nice :D
I fixed all my file names already. :D And everything is organized in my music library.

Yeah but admittedly there are missing track numbers for some albums. Maybe it would be nice if the whole community came to a consensus on where each song goes. I know this sounds really weird and technical but...yeah.
You don't have to do it DJ_O if you really don't want to. I've done most of the hard work here.
Title: Re: DJ_O Music Official Song/Album Information Thread
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on October 14, 2011, 01:23:10 am
Yeah a lot of the files were taken from TIMGUL which saw its file names corrupted. Sadly I had no time to fix this so any help is appreciated. However I guess eventually I could post what each of my albums had. I even used to have pics of album covers in hi res before (although the songs made after 2009 had no official album).

EDITT: Sorry the Spreadsheet was previously private. It should be viewable now.

Ok then. On my spreadsheet i have outlined what appears to be complete albums: Enter the Dream World, Epic Journey Through the Galaxy. Also apparently what used to be Journey through the moon dark side is now Dark side of the moon? It also looks complete with 10 songs
Angel in the Stars is missing 2 songs tracks 4 and 9. I think Timgul and A New World To discover 2008 filled those spaces in my Snake X torrent but im not sure as i may have added that myself.
That'll do for a start.

AFTERNOTE: Sorry for being picky, as I was back then.

JTTMDS used to be Dark Side Of The Moon, until some Pink Floyd fanboys started whining non-stop on the old Omimaga board.

As for the albums there were:
-Epic Journey Through the Galaxy (10 songs)
-Journey Through The Moon Dark Side (10)
-Enter The Dream World (10)
-Angel In The Stars (15)
-It's The End Of Time (15)
-Destiny Knight (15)
-Magic Hardcore (cancelled)
-Unnamed power metal album (unfinished)

I also had mixes and best of albums but I guess they don't count. I had plans to re-use the Magic Hardcore name for the happy hardcore best of album.
Title: Re: DJ_O Music Official Song/Album Information Thread
Post by: Jonius7 on October 14, 2011, 01:56:20 am
oh oK, that explains why Journey Through The Moon Dark Side songs had album art that said Dark Side of The Moon in the dj.omnimaga.org zip file. Ill change that on the spreadsheet...
For its the end of time there are two Track no 1s and two track no 8s. Is it alright if Imagination is moved to Track no 2 and Journey Through The Moon Dark Side 2008 be no 9? That would make a complete album with track numbers there.
This is seeming quite picky of me, talking about moving track numbers and stuff... but im trying to make an official list here, so there has to be some order...

EDIT: Very picky and can be annoying. Sorry for any troubles.

I think this would summarize the whole stuff.

So stop whining about the track numbers they are all there. :P

Thanks for that, these are quite good quality too.
I feel so stupid now lol
EDIT: There's no Destiny Knight though...

I found this post which looks interesting: http://www.mtv-music-generator.com/index.php?topic=1382.msg8833#msg8833

Actually the Destiny Knight album was never officially made. I got some tracks somewhere I think with the numbers, but I only made a cover, no back cover for the pocket.

That's the DK cover

And the Magic Hardcore cover

I remember that by the time I was finishing Destiny Knight, I was even adding demo songs I made a while ago to the albums to fill empty slots and destiny knight wasn't even fully dance/rave.

oh ok, that's interesting. You do have quite a few trances and happy hardcores now.
Anyway I've updated the spreadsheet to match the cover art that Juju gave the link for. That certainly clears things up for those albums.
And that post i found on TIMGUL (shown above) reveals songs that haven't been seen here like the original S.O.S and Techno Strike (Rhythm Is A Dancer Remix)

I was going to post about updating the dj.omnimaga.org zip files for DJ_O's music, such as actually having the Album Art Track Numbers and Filenames all cleared up, but I had discussed with DJ_O before:

18 October 2011
[02:58:37] <+OmnomIRC> (O)<Jonius7> ill listen 2 ur songs
[02:58:50] <+DJ_O> including the one that makes you lose the game?
[02:59:04] <+OmnomIRC> (O)<Jonius7> lol the three songs that i downloaded today
[02:59:06] <+DJ_O> dont worry tho it has no lyrics involving that :P
[02:59:11] <+OmnomIRC> (O)<Jonius7> also we need to update dj.omnimaga.org
[02:59:11] <+DJ_O> cya now
[02:59:22] <+OmnomIRC> (O)<Jonius7> cya
[02:59:26] <+DJ_O> yeah but i wont cuz it takes too much bandwidth to do so everytime
[02:59:39] <+DJ_O> i mean having tio reupload a 500 MB zip file everytime I make a song
[03:00:01] <+OmnomIRC> (O)<Jonius7> i could help
[03:00:11] <+DJ_O> Canadian ISPs are forced to have bandwidth caps on internet plans
[03:00:31] <+DJ_O> plus I dont want to use all of Juju's bandwidth from his VPS

I'm thinking about starting a torrent with album art track info and stuff correctly labelled, or update the dj.omnimaga.org
Title: Re: DJ_O Music Official Song/Album Information Thread
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on October 25, 2011, 12:07:12 am
that would be nice, although I think jkag was gonna start one with separate album. One containing all of the songs would be nice too I guess, though, as long as you separate the remixes and covers.

Um... I kinda made individual torrents of each album with a playlist and jpg covers.  All tags applied.  chekc the music showcase.

I've updated the spreadsheet to reflect the latest changes. No track length for The Lunar Warrior, or Metal of Time, but that's to be expected, unless I grab the length from the Youtube videos. In total, there are 9 songs ready to go in the album as of 29 November. Almost a complete album!

Ooh very nice. Good to see that the Album is completed!
EDIT: And there's a special Christmas Remix of Metal of Time available (Merry Metal Time). That makes 11 tracks.
Title: Re: DJ_O Music Official Song/Album Information Thread
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on December 21, 2011, 03:03:01 pm
It's because until December 31st, there's a bonus (hidden) track that comes with the 10 others. I bet only 2 people will get it, though, considering the album sold twice since its release :P.

Also Jonius7 watch out because I had in mind to redo the entire AITS album into power metal and it might share the same name or a similar name. same for the songs, although I'm unsure yet. It's not guaranteed I'll work on this yet. :P
Title: Re: DJ_O Music Official Song/Album Information Thread
Post by: Jonius7 on January 10, 2012, 07:50:14 pm
Ah Ok. So like Power Metal Remixes for AITS songs. So you mean the song names of the Power Metal versions will be the same as the original tracks?
Title: Re: DJ_O Music Official Song/Album Information Thread
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on January 10, 2012, 10:33:06 pm
I don't think so, although they might be similar. Also some songs might be removed or added. Of course this project is still in planning stages, though. if I get no inspiration to make covers of the tracks, it might never come to fruition.
Title: Re: DJ_O Music Official Song/Album Information Thread
Post by: Jonius7 on January 24, 2012, 06:01:50 am
There is something else I have not sorted out yet in categorising DJ_O's music. The bit rate. Most of the older songs were originally released in 128kbps, however there are several songs @ dj.omnimaga.org that have been re-released in 320kbps. And of course, the whole TotKotM is fully available in 320kbps. I shall complete this when I have time.
Title: Re: DJ_O Music Official Song/Album Information Thread
Post by: Jonius7 on January 28, 2012, 08:18:54 pm
There is also the issue of the older songs that weren't released with the original Omnidance Albums until DJ individually released them, unmastered in 2011. In my spreadsheet I have them labelled under Retro 2003, or I could label them with the original Omnidance track numbers as shown here: http://www.mtv-music-generator.com/index.php?topic=1382.msg8833#msg8833

Also what is Demon Crest LV1 Theme (2002 Techno Remix) - 2002?
is it Demon's Crest Beyond the Colosseum (DJ Omnimaga Dance Remix)?
Title: Re: DJ_O Music Discography Project
Post by: Jonius7 on February 02, 2012, 12:03:57 am
I am currently updating the spreadsheet to add in Omnidance Album information for those old 2003 songs.
Oh and also I changed the topic name to DJ_O Music Discography Project. More concise than DJ_O Music Official Song/Album Information Thread

I hope I'm not talking to myself here.
Now with everyone knowing about the invisionfree forums here are some old posts:
Omnidance: http://s9.invisionfree.com/omnimaga/ar/t1698.htm
PC MTV Music Generator: http://s9.invisionfree.com/omnimaga/ar/t1622.htm

Yeah I got MTV Music Generator on PC too. It's easily available on download sites and torrents.

Well I guess this topic has achieved significant progress. There are just a few songs and other technical things to sort out.
Title: Re: DJ_O Music Discography Project
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on February 20, 2012, 12:38:39 am
Oh wow I remember how bad the PC MTVMG was, especially stability-wise. <_< I never actually managed to finish one song in it.

As for Omnidance some songs are actually also on my newer albums. Omnidance was actually a series of two tape recordings of my old songs.
Title: Re: DJ_O Music Discography Project
Post by: Jonius7 on February 20, 2012, 12:40:55 am
The PC MTVMG is kinda unpolished, but I managed to run it fine in full screen and in windowed mode :D though the opening title screen was in the wrong position.
Yeah, I have added details for the Omnidance songs from your post on TIMGUL on the spreadsheet.
Title: Re: DJ_O Music Discography Project
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on February 20, 2012, 12:46:12 am
Ah ok good to hear. For me in WIndows XP it just crashed every 5 minutes. Also I found the controls to be absolutely horrible and poorly choosen. For example no CTRL+C/V copy/paste and other unconventional hotkey choices. But again it might be due to how I'm so used to using a gamepad to use MTVMG on a PS1.

And I see. By the way The Winter Trance and Wheel of Fortune happy hardcore remix are from Omnidance 3, but Omnidance 3 was never actually finished (stalled in Jan 2004 due to my MTVMG CD stopping working)
Title: Re: DJ_O Music Discography Project
Post by: Jonius7 on February 20, 2012, 12:50:50 am
I'll have to check but I think MTVMG did have Ctrl C+V

And the Demon Crest LV1 Theme? I have both TWT and WoF but Demon Crest has been a mystery
Quote
Also what is Demon Crest LV1 Theme (2002 Techno Remix) - 2002?
is it Demon's Crest Beyond the Colosseum (DJ Omnimaga Dance Remix)?
Title: Re: DJ_O Music Discography Project
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on February 20, 2012, 12:55:32 am
well for me CTRL+C/V didn't work. It was a totally different shortcut if I remember.

As for the demon crest theme it should be in the archives. It was renamed to Beyond the Colosseum, the name of the original song:

Title: Re: DJ_O Music Discography Project
Post by: Jonius7 on February 21, 2012, 03:46:50 am
Ah Ok, that clears things up a lot. I now know pretty much every song and where it came from, and any name changes along the way. I shall put a table or something similar up when I have time.

In MTVMG, you have to area select (click and drag works) and then use ctrl + C and V. Just tried it today. Reading the manual cleared up a lot of things, so I am trying to create my first song in MTVMG.
Title: Re: DJ_O Music Discography Project
Post by: Jonius7 on February 26, 2012, 08:20:25 pm
Also talk of the torrent that I might put up of DJ_O's music. I'm not quite ready to release one, because I am still separating bit rate versions. I'll hope to put 128k for everything and have 320k versions downloadable separately.
http://ourl.ca/7592/285140

As for TotKotM there is a question mark.
Title: Re: DJ_O Music Discography Project
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on February 26, 2012, 08:26:56 pm
Yeah it might be best to put higher bitrates separately so people don't have to download the same file twice. As for TotKotM I would have to find the short versions of each song I guess.
Title: Re: DJ_O Music Discography Project
Post by: Jonius7 on February 26, 2012, 08:31:00 pm
I was thinking 128k for everything, so people can have the music collection without taking up too much space on their music player, but 320k separately if people have enough space or are listening on their computer for example.
Title: Re: DJ_O Music Discography Project
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on February 26, 2012, 08:32:20 pm
Btw do you mind if the short versions of TotKotM are under 128K?
Title: Re: DJ_O Music Discography Project
Post by: Jonius7 on February 26, 2012, 10:06:21 pm
Um, depends. If it's 45k that's not really great at all.
Title: Re: DJ_O Music Discography Project
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on February 26, 2012, 11:17:58 pm
It's somewhere around 88 Kbps variable bitrate, if I recall correctly.
Title: Re: DJ_O Music Discography Project
Post by: Jonius7 on February 27, 2012, 01:50:25 am
Hmm that's alright I guess, though thought the previews were 128k

EDIT: Oops not the previews, I have the actual song downloaded from when it was still available. Those are 128k
The Merry Metal Time Preview is 103kbps, probably variable.
Title: Re: DJ_O Music Discography Project
Post by: Jonius7 on February 27, 2012, 04:53:27 am
There are more mistakes to correct. Using the remnants of what I have from the Snake X torrent from 2010, I have deduced that A New World To Discover 2008 and Magic Hardcore are Genre: Happy Hardcore, not Hardcore as dj.omnimaga.org has.
But on the other hand, stuff from the original Snake X torrent has different Genre information, Eg: Eurobeatizer is Disco in the Snake X torrent, but Italo-Disco in the 320k version featured in dj.omnimaga.org

I shall just have to download each song manually myself from omnimaga Downloads section and not modify it in anyway.

After all this is done I shall update the spreadsheet and see what everyone says.

Then the torrent might be ready!

I have made some progress, I will be updating the spreadsheet ASAP, has some important changes I have found.
I have been downloading the songs from the Omnimaga downloads section and checking them against the versions I have for any mistakes.
Also for additional information such as BPM, comments what was it made in I have turned to the TIMGUL posts and am looking at those too.

Hope to make this nice and all good sorted music by the time this is finished.
Also check the first post for overall progress.

I'm sure I still have some more higher quality versions of those album pics somewhere, but I doubt I still have the ones from the older albums. Sadly I lost them inadvertently around 2008 or so, probably by overwriting the images with lower quality ones or something. I'll probably rip them from Youtube once I find the highest possible quality there.

It sucks though because for the 5 first albums, I used to have 945x945 pics of them.

Btw the differenly colored versions of TotKotM are not album art, they're just modified from the TotKotM one to add some originality among the videos of the album.

Ah Ok.
Some of your song art isn't square shaped so I included alternatives for people who wanted square versions. EG: For frozen version I created a cropped square version, but for a full square version I pasted plain blue sky at the top and copied the ground pattern down the bottom to extend it. Looks pretty nice.
All others have black bars of some sort, except for the Old Tape Recordings.

Also now that Original songs is pretty much sorted, I'm looking to the mashups and cover songs (10 and 12 respectively)

Yeah actually I remember that. Back then I just reduced the width for album format, because I realized I had the wrong format and it was too late. X.x

Anyway here are all albums (including some larger versions of old ones):

All 5 first albums (EJTtG, JTtMDS, EtDW, AitS and ItEoT)

Original cover of JTtMDS, changed to avoid copyright issues and due to many complains from a bunch of Pink Floyd fanboys who got offended at me using Dark Side of the Moon as album name on the old Omnimaga board:

DOHAM, which was a mix of 14 of my hardcore songs and released between EtDW and AitS:

Slightly better quality version of AitS
(http://dj.omnimaga.org/albumpics/aits.png)

High quality version of ItEoT (and its back)

High quality version of DK (no back-cover)

High quality version of MH (no back-cover, cancelled album)

High quality version of TotKotM

I think I already have the first Set of 5 album covers included in the rar file but nice HQ Magic Hardcore and others!

Thanks. :D I didn't think I still had Destiny Knight and It's The End of Time actually. I should maybe check my old data DVDs one day to see if I still have backups of the older pics...

I need to double check some things with the Mashups and Cover songs, as titles of songs have been varying.
Here's some export files with the basic IDE information. I could put in more such as track length and such, but can't be bothered modifying mp3tag config right now.
Of course I shall implement this in the spreadsheet when I have time.

I'll probably check what I got in my music folder and tell you the new and exact titles for the sake of consistency.

I still haven't resorted the album/song art collection to include the hi-res art. Mostly they are just for aesthetic purposes,as attaching the hi-res to each song track would take up too much space.
As for the TotKotM I cropped a 960x960 from the banner? including the front and backcover and header I got somewhere

Nice to see you again Jonius :D

Btw I tend to not put the art with the mp3s anymore because then they won't work in some players, such as RPG Maker 2003 where it just crashes.

Hmm interesting, perhaps there's a size/resolution limit to the pictures. I'll just not embed them but just provide them as a separate image file.

Yes I have been busy. School hasn't been that great for me recently, looks like things have moved on a bit since I last focused on looking at the home page.

Also putting art with every MP3 increases the size of an album quite a lot. X.x

On a side note, that was hosted on Omni for years but here are pics of a few of my albums when I tried to do them in physical format, sort of (and give a small idea of how it could look like). That pic is old so it only includes 4 of the albums and the 2nd one is from before the name change to Journey through the Moon Dark Side.

Maybe one day they'll all be available on my RN CD store (once I made sure I got the layout size right, as their tools are rather misleading). It would be rather redundant to buy the original albums, though, considering if you buy the recently released compilation (and the eventual eurodance/trance/house counterpart), you get every song again...

Title: Re: DJ_O Music Discography Project

By the way, the happy hardcore album average track profit per album sale I get on Bandcamp (excluding their revenue share thing) is $0.12, if rounded. For the eurodance/trance compilation, the average profit per track will be $0.10 (if rounded). That of course only includes tracks that were re-released as WAV or 320kbps versions on both albums.

Assuming I decided to re-release EJTTG, JTTMDS, ETDW, AITS, ITEOT and DK as paid albums, in order to turn at least the same profit per track on each of those albums, here would be the prices for each (rounded up to less strange numbers):

EJTTG: $0.50 (9 free songs, 1 paid)
JTTMDS: Free (10 free songs, 0 paid)
ETDW: Free (10 free songs, 0 paid)
AITS: $0.70 (12 free songs, 3 paid)
ITEOT: $1.50 (5 free songs, 10 paid)
DK: $1.40 (6 free songs, 9 paid)

With the odd numbers (meaning slightly cheaper too :P) it would be

EJTTG: $0.44
JTTMDS: Free
ETDW: Free
AITS: $0.66
ITEOT: $1.44
DK: $1.32
However buying those would be pointless if you want every song or already bought the two compilations (one of which isn't out yet). I guess it would be for those who only want certain sets of songs, those who want the HQ version of Super Ultimate Mega Doom or absolutely want every album (after all, someone donated an extra $8 when he bought the $2 hardcore compilation :P).

One idea I had in mind, however, was releasing all those albums in a single one, so it would end up at $2.60 instead of $4.10 (since I would save $1.50 in Paypal fees). Or of course with the strange numbers, $2.36 instead of $3.86 (in which case I guess the album pack could be $2.40 or something)

Re-releases of Omnidance Vol. I and Omnidance Vol. 2 are out of the question in long terms, as they contained covers of copyrighted songs.

On a side note it seems the happy hardcore compilation is more popular on Bandcamp than iTunes, while for TotKotM it's the opposite. I made over $30 on each side, but on distribution all sales were for TotKotM, while on Bandcamp all but one sale from the past 6 months were the hardcore album, most TotKotM sales being from December 2011/January 2012.

It had a remix of Ace of Base's Wheel of Fortune made in late 2003 (the melody was re-used in Imagination in 2008), along with The Winter Trance from Jan 2004. Techno Revolution was just entering demo stage when my CD stopped working.

Yes sorry I haven't been keeping track on your new, rereleased, etc songs recently on the spreadsheet.
The Omnidance information I found on a post in TIMGUL, but since TIMGUL no longer exist as a separate site, luckily I saved the web page for what it looked like back then. Attached.

However a database crash in 2009 caused half of the post to vanish.

Oh ok, I wasn't aware of that, last time I remembered I thought there were plans to possibly merge TIMGUL into Omnimaga (which I didn't particularly favour)

Also I've noticed you posting new videos with some album and track art on Youtube that I haven't looked at yet.
And I've lost track of all the mashups cover songs you've done/released since, since I know there have been a few there.
Title: Re: DJ_O Music Discography Project
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on October 09, 2012, 04:38:28 am
Yeah the TIMGUL merge didn't happen because of posting dates conflicts, unlike the old Omni boards merge.

As for the vids, often I use different variations of my album pics. Eg for TotKotM I changed the color hue or added extra stuff. For Ancient Kingdom I usually did the same as well. As for the orange-colored album that has a revamped Omnidance logo in it it's a new compilation of my old songs, along with previously unreleased ones and remastered audio ones. It's basically the eurodance/trance/house counterpart of my happy hardcore album I released earlier this year. It has over 50 songs.

As for the black and white albums with just Omnidance in the middle, those are my two original tapes, but since there was no cover besides the logo on the side, a CD incarnation of Omnidance 1 and 2 would look like this.

For the mashup they're not officially associated to any album, since releasing them for download here or Bandcamp would be against copyright rules. I might try to find the titles, though.

And yeah of course my DJ Omnimaga logo changed recently :P

I didn't change the color though ???

That must be due to crappy Youtube compression. That's of course unless you hacked my computer and found a copy of the printable cover. :P (kidding aside, a printable cover would need hue change, because of how crappy blue comes out in CMYK colors

Also the track list is gonna change around for a while since I'm still adding bonus songs. It's almos t done, though.

Dj.omnimaga.org was dropped since I didn't want to manage 2 music site at once. I made it redirect for those who prefer shorter URLs.

Well I did "hack" into typing a certain Youtube URL to find the thumbnail/video picture for those videos and then cropped out the black bars. Then I can't remember where I got the original album art picture.
For reference, here's the two for comparision, first is the Album (350x350) , Second is the Single (360x360). For TotKotM

EDIT: OK I can just see the quality decrease in the youtube versions.
EDIT2: I found some other versions. Third is the Single with the black bars (480x360), Fourth, another Album pic I found (480x480).
I cannot remember where I got the album pics from.
There is also a (960x960) version which I got from the TotKotM cover with back.

Yeah Youtube definitively teared the quality apart. It almost looks like I saved the pic on my Xbox 360 hard drive then recorded my Xbox in A/V mode using a VCR set in EP mode (if you remember VHS tapes)

Also I noticed that most Youtube thumbnails ends up much lighter than the video itself. Some calc vids I uploaded are bright yellow (or close) in thumbnails.

Before today, I'd never really looked at http://djomni.57o9.org though I'd heard it around plenty.
Now that I looked at http://ourl.ca/17206 I also noticed other tracks, mashups/mixes and covers there too, as well as demos. I have taken note of these tracks and hope to put these in the spreadsheet.
