I like beatles, I like rush, I like a lot of classicle rock, Queen and AC/DC are pretty good. Chicago is good. My friend frank who is obsessed with all things asian has forced me to listen to japanese and korean bands (most of which are a guy on a guitar and a guy on a keyboard :P) The ones that were okay were the Pillows, the seatbelts, and orange range. Most all jazz is good. I also enjoy some big orchestra-ish music like "the planets" and soundtracks to things like lotr. :D

dysfunction:
As far as Japanese bands, try X Japan. Great Japanese power metal, their two guitarists have some really incredible harmonized solos.
