So i am in need of some creepy and eerie ambiance and themes for my game Nightmare, and i know we have some people with music knowledge (or at least the software) and so i am putting in my request for some creepy ambiance. I don't want anything with percussion or piano, more like various synth sounds and/or strings. Tracks that are 1 time only are needed, as well as some tracks that have the ability to be looped as a background.
The feel i am going for is abandoned hospital/psychiatric ward, the feeling that you are alone, and something is terribly wrong. Not that there might be monsters, but there might even be something wrong with the very reality you are experiencing.
Of course credit will be given in full and i will have your eternal gratitude since i am horrendous at coming up with sounds/music. really, *any* ambiance you can come up with would be appreciated. Thanks!

If I find time, I'll see what I can come up with, but I am working on another music project right now (as well as my personal compositions).
-
Thanks :) anything is appreciated. What kinds of software do you use?

I know exactly what you need and I have the right software (no, not Guitar Pro).
It's not a calc. game is it?
-
Excelent :D I can't wait to hear what you have ^^ And nope this isn't a calc game, its a java applet, which you can demo here: http://greenfootgallery.org/scenarios/2017

Great, I'll make it when I have time, will I be credited if you use my songs?
-
Absolutely :)

Absolutely :)
Ok, I'm working in a slow song (actually I'm using well-known songs like Pop and turning them into ambiental songs, making the sound lower for darkness and scary)
-
Sounds awesome, can't wait to hear it ^^

Are you afraid of copyrights? I mean, I'm using a minute or two from worldwide known songs (lady Gaga as an example) and slowing them down 500% and giving them effects, nobody could recognize them, but yet, not made from scratch
-
Hmmmmm good question, i'd prefer if it didn't include mainstream audio, although i'll make my final decision when i hear it

In my game Mysterious Cities of Gold: The Curse of Amirax, there's a song used only once, in an haunted house. It's very simple but I wonder if it would fit?

That looks scary, but still hearing it, who made it?

Thats a great clip :D I'm definitely using some of that ^^
-
I made that one. It's kinda simple, though and it's from 3 years ago. You can see it used in this clip: http://www.myspace.com/djomnimaga/videos/video/25121873 (sorry for Myspace link, but Youtube deleted the video a few years ago)

Nice job DJ

Indeed ^^ Are there any other songs of yours that you would recommend? I know you don't do ambiance themed usually but you never know :P
-
Sadly this is the only ambient song I made. Of course there's http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=103 and http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=463 , but the parts with no beat are not really scary and the scary parts of the songs have too much beat.
If you had a factory area or a haunted club, http://djomni.mtv-music-generator.com/DJ%20Omnimaga%20-%20The%20Chemist.MP3 could fit well, if it wasn't for the crappy sound quality (this was recorded from the TV using a mic back in 2003)
-
Mmm i like the beginning of the most relaxing song ever, and i like the chemist as well, although you are right they are less ambiance and more rythem-ey. Even so i'll keep looking around your music ^^

Scout, you aren't using Paul's extreme audio stretcher (http://hypermammut.sourceforge.net/paulstretch/) are you?
anyways, i doubt i'll be able to help with this, as the only thing i'm any familiar with using is pixtone =P
-
Wow that is quite an impressive program! I am able to create pretty cool sound effects by slowing down very short ones ;D

Yeah I love that program. The Justin Bieber 800% slowed down song sounds epic. :P Just be careful if you use real songs so people won't notice too much :P
-
Go slow down Sleepyhead by Passion Pit, it is sooo trippy.

Or slow down justin bieber so he's 8 times slower than usually. (http://gawker.com/5614579/how-to-make-justin-bieber-sound-incredible-slow-him-down-800-percent)

Oh yeah I mentionned it in one of my post, although I forgot the song name. That sounds really awesome! ;D
You could maybe slow down 1000 BPM to Rule The All to see how it sounds? :P
-
Haha thats epic ^^ It also turns out if you take really sharp noises like glass breaking and slow them down over 9000 times, and add a bit of echo, it can turn really creepy >:D
-
Hmm I should try that, maybe. Maybe I could get sound effects for future music I could make. :P
-
I'm still in need of some ambiance, does anybody know of any good way to make a track of music? I have been doing some research, but I really don't know how to go about making my own types of sounds, or how to put them into different notes
-
Personally I only really know of some digital music workstation, but that can be a bit tricky to learn. If you can find a trial version of Magix music maker 14 or 2008 that was quite cool actually. Besides that there's Sony ACID, FL Studio, Albeton live, but if you want a free alternative you would need to use Lmms. Of course there's also the old MTVMG if you got a PS1 emu with the right plugins, but it won't let you make your very own sounds as much.
-
Hmmmm I actually think I might have a copy of Acid somewhere... i'll have to play around with it
-
So now that I have FL Studio demo, I think i might be able to handle all of the ambiance on my own :)
-
Cool to hear. Does it come with some VST plugins? Those can be handy for instruments. You can create lots of cool effects.
