Alright, seeing that there is a music download section in Omnimaga, I decided to compose random stuff during my free time. However, I have not found an easy-to-use utility so far that I can use to compose. Does anybody know where I can find a good utility?

Well, if you want to make midi files, I suggest Guitar Pro 5.1 (I can help you get a full version).
If you were talking about recording, I strongly suggest http://audacity.sourceforge.net/.
Guitar Pro 5 is nice not only for guitar, but everyone because there are so many instruments, including drums, piano, guitars, bass's, string sections, synths, etc. And you can type in the notes by hand, through a keyboard, or by a guitar fretboard. (I sound like an advertisement, don't I?)

Oh yeah, Fruity Loops maybe useful for you, there is various sample sites that can be found anywhere with google as well. The free version cannot save stuff in mp3 but you can easily record your work with audacity afterward while running FL
There was a software Called Reason as well but i never looked into it really.
If you can find a copy of MTV music generator somewhere in a store or online for playstation use this, then find a playstation emu and run it with it, and record your work with audacity. you need to close all app running while recording though else it can slow down sometimes and it doesn't give good results

OK, I'll check those two out.

I like audacity for doing sound things. Small, and multiplatform, so I don't have to have a different program for my lappy and my desktop.

Two words, one program: ModPlug Tracker (OpenMPT, http://openmpt.xwiki.com/xwiki/bin/view/Main/WebHome).
Making music is really easy with it, and it has a lot of features.
