Title: Notessimo
Post by: skuller972 on April 18, 2009, 12:11:03 pm
There is a great site, www.notessimo.net, which has a thing where you make the scores yourself, using the instruments you want.

It features:
Layers - you can organize the instruments
Forums - post your music!
Sections - you can creat the music for a section then create a new one and put them in order when the song is done, you can even use a section twice if you dont feel like copying it down again
Treble and Bass Clefs
Tutorials and "Tip of the Day"
and alot more...

Heres the song "Over the Rainbow" i created

Here's that piano song I mentioned to DJ awhile back.
It's not exactly how I wanted it... but it's still nice.

Dark Void (http://notessimo.net/?id=27828) - Nyaar (Electrokinesis) a.k.a. Me
It's my second addition to the Void series. (first one was Sky Void)

(EDIT: Tempo fixes. Sounds better now.)

{AP} your song is really good but you should add more instruments or a percussion or just more notes, because its a little too simple, but other than that its great!

Yeah, it was originally just a song I played on my piano on occasion. I never expected to actually put it online.
I'll work on it more later... I've been working on another song in Notessimo recently.

btw I like both of your songs, I think I'll mess around with this app for a bit to see if I can pull off something good from it (I am a bit skeptical, though, seeing the interface looks like Mario Paint Composer and songs sounds more like MIDI)

I've finished the core of another song.
I'll see if I can add something else to it later, maybe.

It seemed quite interesting, altough the controls are a bit annoying, slowing down song making a lot. but it got nice instruments. I am too used to putting notes on a long piano riff editor like in most music making softwares. If we can make long song segments I could maybe pull off a short techno song with this, though, just for fun.

i updated my song because i found some guitar chords to go behind it and the vocals were only at the beginning so i decided to remove them

here's the new link:
http://notessimo.net/?id=27856
still need to work on it some more but i am waaaay too tired its 10:20

also here's some tips for notesimmo:
*when you first come to the compose screen, under "open in new window" click the tab and click huge, it makes it a LOT easier to access all of the notes
*UTILIZE LAYERS! each insturment should have a layer of its own or at least each section (eg. percussion melody bass and chords and maybe vocals)
*Control your sections. if the intro and another part sound alike, but the second partis more complex, use the secondpart for the intro, i did this in over the rainbow in section 0, and you barely can notice it unless you lookat the top
*look at other people's music and the techniques THEY use you might learn a trick or two

I think I found a wrong note! :P
Check the 5th chord in measure 29 (8th measure of section 3), I think the top note should be a B4.

Sorry about being anal, but i'm sort of an audiophile (it's why I bought $110 Sennheiser HD-555 headphones). :P

Aw... no one likes the second song I did?
Oh well, working on another.

oh forgot to comment on it, I liked it ^^ for some reasons it reminded me RPGs, is it from a game in particular?

As for part 1 and 2 and stuff I am confused about what it means

EDIT: I think I'll stick to MTV Music Generator (1) because I have been used to placing notes on a grid inside midi tracks, adding special effects to them and placing these midi tracks on a sequencer for like 7 years, not a music sheet interface like an orchestra or Mario Paint x.x. I always end up trying to put the note at 8 different places and trying the key + click combinations until it's at the right chord. Plus the controls are a bit unconventional x.x

(for the younger people here, by MTVMG I mean this: http://xlib.mtv-music-generator.com/m2kRAMusage.avi (requires Xvid codec to watch))

Bah. Butchered Saria's Song... I'm too tired to mess with making is sound better either.
Check it out or not, your call. (http://notessimo.net/?id=27869)

I think I'll do one from an anime next.

(BTW, Lugia's Song is from the Pokemon 2000 movie, Omnimaga. It's the only good music Pokemon has ever produced IMO.)

Ooh i see now. Personally, my favourite Pokémon song (that I didn't got bored of after listening to it more than 3 times) is this one:

&fmt=18 (1999)

But being a EDM/rave music fan, especially from the '90s, I might be a bit biased.

However, I prefer the french version, which I can unfortunately not find anywhere :(

Btw your song is great, I wish it had a bit of reverb and bass strings, though, but that's something Notesimmo can't do, I think x.x

Does this music maker allows you to import files into wav/mp3s? If not, maybe you could use audacity or another sound recorder and post the mp3 link from mediafire for those who can't run this music software (since it appears to be a bit CPU intensive and requires flash to be installed)

That's just me being lazy. Bass is possible.
The song is Saria's Song from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time btw.

It has a way to convert them to WAV and will apparently be able to do MIDI later.
If you try to convert it to MP# it gives the message: "Convert the song to a WAV then use a program like Audacity to convert it to a MP3."
Oddly enough, the converter is a separate program you have to download that requires Java, but it works at least.

notesimmo can have reverb, just check the different guitar sounds and one is bound to have reverb

saria's song is pretty good but near the beginning i just feel that a few notes are a little off in section 0 or 1. I'll look through and see if I can find which one it is.

The measure 29 B4 is supposed to be like that, because I found some sheet music of Over the Rainbow on the internet, and it had in measure 29 at count 3: a B4 F#4 C#4 and a G3, which is how I had it in the song.
Added the most of the rest of the chords, so it's almost perfect except for vocals (can't find any on google), and on measure 28 there should be a glissando, from count 3 B3 to count 4 B1, but you can't do glissandos on notessimo (glissando is when you rapidly play successive notes, eg. drag your hand down the keys from the first note to the second)

Over the Rainbow v3: http://notessimo.net/?id=27898
In section two, where there is just a really low note for guitar, it's where I haven't put a chord in yet but am going to in v4

also, is there any way to post embed objects on this forum, I just couldn't find out how to.

You can add attachments (click additional options after clicking the reply button below the post list, not the quick reply) but they have to be under 256 KB and you can embed Youtube videos by using [ Invalid YouTube link ]

As for reverb I meant like for example in Sony ACID pro in a sound channel setting you can have reverb effect that will be applied on every note so any sample/instrument can have reverb or not and in MTVMG1 and 2 you can apply reverb to individual notes. Seeing what you guys do with it I think this might be useful to make RPG-style music if I ever do a PC RPG again (Super Star Hero alerady got most of its music). I might still attempt a techno song, though (probably happy hardcore, since not all sounds that I like got reverb)

v4: http://notessimo.net/?id=27957
almost done... if anyone finds vocal sheet music (with notes) please post link or picture and must be full song, not just the first page, because I saw some of those, but only one page showed because it was a preview, and you had to buy it to get the rest

nice song ^^

However for some reason the part around 17-18 i think with some bass piano sounded a bit weird, idk why, some notes seemed a bit off key

yeah i made sure it was all right but still some things just sound off, like the first count in the second measure, just sound out of sync, i dont know why but other notes dont fit either and it's the best choice
Title: Re: Notessimo

yeah I understand that can be hard sometimes x.x, when I make music with like 3 chords playing at once (the same note), often I have to trial and error for 10 minutes until it sounds right. Sometimes I even have the sound in my head, but I still can't get it. MTV Music Generator for the Playstation 1 got a minor chord and a major chord filter that can do this for you but even then in some cases it still won't sound right.

When I started making music in 2002 I had an hard time with this seriously x.x

it is a reall godd song but it is crazy long and i was thinking that someone could use it for credits background music, but they'd either need a bunch of credits, or cut out half of he song which mostly just repeats itself again and again, but its a real good song. why cant you play it now? Library? school? best friend who happens to hate music's house?

heres another:

its Tocata et Fuga, Rockificated

i think that classic + rock = awesome music.
its perfect for modern games about medeivalish stuff

wow havent tried this on adobe flash player 10, didnt realise it would lag like this on it (framerate slows down and sound cutoff every few seconds while song playing. However, if In CTRL+ALT+DEL i set opera in hi priority mode, it's all fine)

Nice song btw especially when it reaches the rock part. Only thing, though, I think the bass/low string sound at the beginning is off key. I think it should follow the same key as the guitar songs later in the song

EDIT: ANd yah classic + rock makes awesome music. Some power metal bands uses lot of classic music in their songs.

maybe i should Rockificate Over the Rainbow...?

can somebody make mp3s of the v4 over the rainbow? it used to let you save the song as an mp3, but now the only way to play it is to open in a new window, since the site update, and the new window doesnt have a save feature. pwease helwp me  :'(
