Title: Now Playing
Post by: Netham45 on September 05, 2008, 09:07:55 pm
I was thinking we could use this to tell each other if we hear a good song, or if we hear a bad song, or if we just want people to know what we're listening to.
To start it off

Np: Rush - The Trees

funny song. ^_^

Eh, probably my least favorite rush tune (love the band though) XD.

I'm listening to the album Duck & Cover by The Mad Caddies.  One of my current favorites :D.

mhmm I like medieval music. Idk if it's because I live near a city that still have fortification walls surrounding it and nearly medieval-looking houses inside and the fact I like power metal music and RPGs but whenever something sounds medieval I usually like it, even if it's rap o.O

As for me atm I am listening to Dreams of an Absolution (Lee Brotherton vs. Jun Senoue Mix)

As far as new music goes, If you like power metal Dragonforce's new album is available and is pretty good It incorporates more keyboards and shows growth and experiment . Metallica's new album (Death magnetic) which debuts sept. 12 is absolutley horrible. If anyone is considering buying it i recommend that you find a way to sample it before you decide on buying it. I thought that they hit bottom of the barrel with St. Anger (their previous album) but this one is much worse. St. Anger at least had a couple of songs that were ok, but this one has none. Style wise the new album is all thrash/speed metal, With one slower song and one instrumental. James Hetfield's vocal style on this album continues to degrade from what was established in St. Anger, as in more of the same and he sounds crappier doing it. The composition of the songs is chaotic and they can't seem to decide what they wanted to do with them. The guitar solos return in prominence on this album, and they are technically good, but they seem out of place in the songs as if they were just randomly tossed in. Most songs seem to have tempo changes in odd places and for no particular reason . This was showcased on one song that started off slow and sound really prety and then they change the tempo and went off in an entirely different direction. Metallica was one of the first metal bands I really got into, and it really hurts me that they seem to have completley lost all musical direction. :( Anyways, I hope I can save someone who was anticipating the album the let down they would have expirenced had they purchased it.

Gotta love that song, I don't understand why so many people hate Through The Fire And Flames. People seems to judge work based on how it was made and if the thing sounds good it doesn't matter to them. This is the same with TI-BASIC vs ASM. To me it doesn,t matter if a band used synthetisers to create some melodies or even used softwares to put parts of songs that were separately recorded together or to speed them up, it sounds good IMHO and that's all that matter to me. Also it creates a different style :)

Of course I don't like if a band or artist copy other ppl songs, pitch them up or only add a few minor stuff and release them as their own with no credits given to the original artist at all, though (some people does that with electronic music)
