So, Rick Astley just came out with a new single (well, not just came out- it came out in June). Apparently it's his first single in 17 years(!!!). Go watch it and pay tribute to the king ;D.
Oh, and in case you were wondering his career got started up again because of Rickroll, so we have a certain imageboard to thank for this...
-
Lol, nice! I wonder if anyone else noticed the video was pi minutes long :P
-
Video is full of win.

Yes, I did xD

for a while I thought another rickroll was posted outside Intro/randomness but then I saw it was his new song. I admit I was shocked when I discovered he was back. He said he stopped in the early 1990s because he didn't want to live a star life forever and prefered to spend more time with his family.
-
he does the oddest things with his hands when he sings

We've known that since 1987 ^^
-
That's actually a pretty decent song :)
I didn't know he was back until just now :P

No body actually knows for sure if 4chan was the origin of Rick Rolling. Just a good guess. But I think it's him that owes a big thanks to them ;) (What Rick should have done is have that been the first minute or so and then flip to a Rick Roll :P)

Well, duckrolling started with them, and Rickroll is a spinoff of it...
-
Ya, I know. But that doesn't guarantee it was them. But anyways, we shall see what happens of Rick Astley.
-
Woo! Astley FTW! I've been listening to "Lights Out" for forever and a half now. I think it's my favorite Astley song by far. Shame it scored rather poorly on the UK Singles Chart (only #97) :/

RICK ASTLEY IS BACK AGAIN LAST WEEK
-
:o
-
Well if he keeps up the music that he seems to be coming out with his career might actually last, not that it wasn't his choice last time. You just don't really see 40+ year olds starting music careers that stay very long.
-
I think rickrolling was started by 4chan but duckrolling was started on ytmnd

oh... my bad :P. but i have heard moot say that rickroll was started on 4chan. but, it doesn't really matter. the point of all of this is is that Rick Astley now has a career again, which is pretty awesome ;D
-
* calcdude likes these songs for more reasons than "ZOMG IT'S RICK ASTLEY OF THE RICKROLL!!!111!!1!!!11!" :P
He's not a bad artist, actually ;D
-
I agree. I really like Lights Out actually.
-
He's going to use this fame to rickroll us all, just you watch!

I was thinking the same thing :P
-
ANd I am sure half of his sales will be due to the Internet ;D
-
WHOA, HE'S BAAACK! And with pretty good songs, too. Though I was expecting a rickroll here at first :P

Yep, me too. 2008 was pretty awesome :D
-
Both those songs are amazing!
I really like 'Lights Out', though. ;D
-
These new songs sound like everything else on the radio. Especially "Lights Out". It's like Coldplay but with a different singer, really.
I mean, they're...OK, but not at all special.
RICK ASTLEY IS BACK AGAIN LAST WEEK
But...but you said you'd never say goodbye :'(

:D lol

Edit: ninja'd

Yeah sadly a lot of artists like that decided to go with generic radio stuff. Sometimes it sounds good but most of the time we get bored fast of it due to everything sounding similar.
Don't wonder why I listen to so many european/asian stuff dating back in the '80s and '90s :P

A lol ninja? :)

Yeah, that's true. And some radio stations actually seem to be choosing the generic stuff to play :P
-
And single out other stuff like we hear from indie artists on YOutube or, for example, TIMGUL
-
Yeah, I actually like "Lights Out", even if you say it's generic radio stuff and all, this song is rather good. Even "Never Gonna Give You Up" was generic radio stuff back in 1986 and is actually good.
-
True. The only thing that happened is that I got bored of some of that stuff for a while, but I listen to them every now and then.
-
Mwahaha anoher random song to link to >:D.
In all honesty, this song is not bad.
-
Holy necropost :O
That reminds me I haven't listened to this song in a long while, though.
I also need to check if there are UK hardcore remixes of his songs :P
-
Weird. I just posted a rickroll somewhere just 5 minutes ago.
Also, hardcore remixes == WIN :P
-
Ok I checked and sadly there is only one and it's from NGGYU D:. It's good actually, though. The only other one is the same song from me, but quality wasn't as great.
