Title: The inspiration behind my two metal albums
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on December 22, 2013, 02:05:31 am
Just a little info about my two power metal albums, regarding which song is the power metal version of what, in case anyone is curious, with the new song with year and then the original. Note that all the covers are covers of songs I made. In one occasion, however, the dance version was made after the metal one.

Tales of the Knight of the Moon (https://djomnimaga.bandcamp.com/album/tales-of-the-knight-of-the-moon)
1. Tales of the Knight of the Moon (2011) <=> Moon Knight (2003)
3. Metal of Time (2011) <=> Trance of Time (2012)
5. Ride Through the 4th Dimension (2011) <=> Frozen Danger (2008)
7. Xaminaga  (2011) <=> Journey Through the Moon Dark Side (2007)

Ok so I added the influence from the songs I had in the Unfinished single in the first post, including the unfinished scrapped tracks bonus medley.

Ah, so judging from the OP, you're just a copycat :trollface:
JK, I really like your music. Not as much as I like chiptune, but it's a close call.

I'm not a big fan of trackers or some of the advanced softwares people use to make chiptunes, though. >.< I mean, in Sony ACID Pro I spent like 20 hours total making a song I could easily have made in 4 in the softwares I use, but the softwares I use lacks chiptunes instruments for the most part.

The software I use for my chiptunes is Cakewalk's SFZ+ (http://www.kvraudio.com/product/sfzand_by_cakewalk/details) with The Ultimate Megadrive SoundFont (http://woolyss.com/chipmusic-soundfonts.php). Really simple if you're working in just MIDI (my DAW of choice being REAPER).
And maybe it's just my nostalgia, but dat megadrive snare; I am just a sucker for 16-bit SEGA drums :P

Although saying that, I don't think Cakewalk offer the free version to SFZ+ anymore; I somehow managed to get it off their website completely legit for free so I can only guess that they might still do?

That's just my recommendation though. My advice is; If you're wanting to go down the route of chiptune, you gotta use SoundFonts, in my opinion.

I'd say the same thing, although I've seen free or built-in SF2 plugins, depending of the software you use.

Oh right I remembieber reaper now. I didn't use it on my previous computer because I would hear no sound at all from any VST plugin and effects. I had similar issues with Famitracker. I didn't try on this newer machine, though.
