Ok, I am sorry, I'll try not to do be so anymore.........I hate being not nice to people. :(
So yeah, if you want to just ignore me then, I deserve it.

And If you'r still interested in the knex ball machine: the simplet idea just had to do about changing the dense gearing in the pics, I managed to do that successfully but I'm running now into other problems which'll probably mean I'll have to restart the whole thing, well only the gearing, the other stuff can stay as it is.

It's ok, just try to be careful (especially when posting fast). As for the machine a video would be nice when finished. What I wish is that it was easy to create plans for the model so other people could build it with their own pieces, but again I bet that some people might give up 25% through :P

As with all of my ball machines I'll make a vid once the whole thing is done and I'm also planning on making instructions on some of the lifts, not on the whole ball machine though as nobody with that much knex still follows instructions ^^

Ok, so, i made a totally new gearbox, and now the lift is working! I still need to add entrance and exit for the balls, though :)

Ok, so i also added the entrance now and it is working! So only the exit track is missing. The lift automatically changes direction even though the motor turns only in one direction, everything happens mechenical, no electronics used!
It carries 8 balls up at the same time.
Pics of the new mechanism (which is actually pretty hard to see) and the entrance track attached!

How much battery power does that machine take by the way? (or if you're not using any battery, how big is the electricity bill?) :P

Looks nice, by the way!

Well, I have battery powered motors which I modified so that I can plug 'em in (i ran through batteries far to quickley).
This lift uses a 12V (originally) plug-in motor :)

Ok thanks for the info. With my Knex stuff I had two motors IIRC, but I noticed indeed that batteries were drained incredibly fast. On top of that the motors were nowhere close to strong enough to make a fan work, so I got better speed when making it work by hand. Even then, I could use ways to make it much faster, although not too much, since otherwise some of the pieces could snap.

Well, the motors themselves keep surprise me how much they can do, maybe yours were broken then?
So yeah, I've only made one lift with two motors so far: the huge chain lift on Everest, even though I'm thinking now I was just to paranoid to just use one motor, I think that would have been enough.
EDIT: Of cource it also kinda depends on how you gear and counterweight stuff etc.
EDIT2: And just for if you guys wanne know, i have like 20 knex motors ^^
EDIT3: Oh, and a problem I had with Catastropha I forgot to mention: I only have one power adapter to 3V for the modified motors and I had too many motors hanging on it, I had to battery-power some otherwise everything would have turned in slow-motion.

I think mine was one of the weakest motor at the time. It was the red rectangular one that was wired to a transparent rectangular thing with gears inside. It was particularly weak, because if using one big gear to make a smaller one spin faster, as soon as you added another set of gears like that to make things spin even faster, it would just barely even be able to move, because it required more force to rotate than the motor could handle. If I added another set of gears and rotated them manually, it could damage my pieces or the gears.

I would probably not have gotten that many problems if I had more pieces and gears to make everything more solid, though. I only had two or three K'nex sets IIRC (the yellow suitcase from the late 90's and a smaller suitcase I forgot the color of, and I think I got one of my motors as standalone or with a different smaller set)

Do you mean one of those motors?

That are the most ones I have, that are also for me the most-used ones. For heavy loads like this lift i use the plugin-in 12v motor which look like this:

The first one, but mine was more rectangular (the one you posted was probably a redesign or enhanced version). Back in 1997-98 my mom stopped buying LEGO's and introduced us to K'nex, because she felt that LEGO's were getting too expensive and she could no longer afford to buy them, so she went with the alternative, and darn it was cool. Sadly, it was around my final years of interests in building stuff before I role-play with lego figurines. In 2000 I suddenly lost interest in LEGO's and K'nex entirely. D:

Cool idea I guess lol, more power FTW (although don't go overboard to not blow damage it :P). And I like the name Apocalyptica. :) Just make sure that on Youtube it is clear in the title that it's the machine name, not a fan-made videoclip of the Apocalyptica music band using Knex footages, else some people will probably downrate it for not using Apocalyptica music. :P

There's a music band names Apocalyptica? Lol, I'll make it clear in the title :)
And the motors don't end up having mroe power as I convert the 240V AC from the power sockets to 3V DC which is two AA batteries, what the motors usually need.
