Just found this floating around the Internets: http://www.asciiflow.com/

It looks really useful, especially for making plain-text readmes. If only there were a Paint-like program for ASCII art...

I use http://patorjk.com/software/taag/ for generating ASCII fonts. It's got a ton of them.
