I noticed something strange when using my HP scanner. I'm not sure if it's something common with all LCDs but I couldn't find anything about it on Google. I was experimenting a bit and decided to try to scan my mobile phone while it's turned ON. For odd reasons, in the scanned pic, the mobile device LCD was grayscale. I tried at various brightness levels: same result.
Can anyone explain this phenomenon? O.O

Wow that's pretty strange actually. Nice find here.

That happened with persalteas too when he scanned his CX CAS

It might have to do with the fact that the light exiting the screen is polarized.
[EDIT] I just noticed the scanlines in the images too, I think the polarization idea is making more sense now.
-
Is his screen inverted due to a custom theme or did scanning it really turn it like that?

Yeah, that totally makes sense.

If you have access to one, a polarizing filter for a camera may give you the same result in real time by looking through the filter and rotating it to find the point where the colors change.

Reminds me, I have those RealD glasses they give you at 3D movies, when I put them in front of my computer screen, horizontally the glasses are yellow, but vertically they're blue. It's related?
-
Those are polarizing lenses!
-
I don't know much about that stuff. I guess I would need to check Google XD

I'm looking at the CX wearing a pair of those..if you hold it at the right angle you get a bunch of rainbow concentric circles O.O
And the prizm's like some weird plasma effect...
-
Holy crap that's epic. I wonder if I still have my theater 3D glasses somewhere...
-
Put the glasses over the laptop webcam :D
(disclaimer: I suck at this)
(also idk how to save/convert it to a different format)

Edit2: avis

How do we open them? ???
-
Umm idk tbh :P See if I can find a way to convert them..
Linux knows how to open them tho
Edit: found a converter, avis attached above
-
Darn that looks quite cool. O.O
-
Yeah I also thought when I first encountered that, that the polarization could be the cause :P
-
Wow that looks like some trippy math there :P Let's see where my 3D goggles are....
