A friend and I have made a line-following robot as a college project. Here are some photos and the C source file (yes, I know it isn't optimized, is in French, and doesn't use functions. It's just that I'm too used to TI-BASIC :P).
-
I never really liked electronics and hardware, but good luck! Will it have some kind of sensor to follow the line or it will have the path pre-computed?
-
It will have 4 infrared sensors.
-
Cool, I'm not into hardware/robotics but it's cool to see some people around here interested into robotics/hardware mods. :)
-
Good luck and remember that if you plan to go with wireless signals, you will probably end up tearing your hair out in frustration. :)
-
I did a little of this kind of stuff. But I was using Lego Robotics. Good luck!!! ;)
-
I was into Lego robotics as well and actually won an award for a cookie retrieving robot i built :) This sounds like an awesome project! Good luck! ^^
-
O.O
A lot of former robotics people here...
Any mechanical people? ;D
-
I was interested in Lego robotics back in the days and I played with K'Nex stuff too, but Legos were too expensive so we had to stick to the ones we had and K'nex motors were battery hogs. I lost interest in Legos around 13 years old then I went more into game creation and the like. In fact, in my last 2 years into Legos, I just RP'ed with figurines and a calculator

Don't worry, it will be fully autonomous, without any signal reception of any kind.

*BUMP*
Added a small drawing of the sensors' disposition. The black line is the line the robot is supposed to follow.
-
Nice, when you finish the robot itself and get it to work, will you post a Youtube video of it? :D
-
Autonomous is the way to go :D And i can't wait to see it in action! ^^ Pretty please post youtube video when you get it working :)
-
/me now needs to make a YouTube account...

*BUMP*
Could a moderator please move this topic to the newly created "Technology, Hardware and Electronics" forum? Thx.

done ;)

hey, to tell the truth I'm the progamer for my high school's robotics team ;D yeah i also liek hardware/electronics too.
Good idea, dude. though I can't pretend I know much about sensors and control centers, can you give the specs for the programming for it? (though i guess it's very limited or non-existent, you don't really need it.)
-
Thisll be sweet once its done. I got an old lego mindstorms kit from my uncle a few years back, but the IR transmitter for the computer is broken so I cant program it. :( I think it would be cool to make a robot that uses a calc as the processor somehow.
-
that would be pretty cool, it could give you hints on how to program liek a boss in axe :)

/me is confus - ed

Hey, don't think that I'm a n00b in Axe, I used it right from its beginning... ;)
And no, I won't be using a calc to control it, it will have a dedicated chip for that. I don't have the exact specifications, as my friend currently has it.

I wonder where was located the topic in the first place? I didn't find it when I mass-moved topics. O.O
EDIT: Nvm it was in computer programming. Also I'm really looking forward for updates on this :).
-
UPDATE: added some
screenies photos (haven't tried "Ctrl+S"ing my handwritten work yet... :P so not all hope is gone XD) of the real thing to the 1st post... :)

/me loves mechanics :P

Just looked at the first post update. Nice, Silver Shadow. :D

Robot finished. First post updated. :D
-
Nice. Maybe you could post a video when you've got the time? :)
-
Sure, I'll have to ask my friend, as he's the one who has it.
