Title: The power of SATA
Post by: Spellshaper on July 01, 2006, 04:24:00 am
Yay! Today I bought myself a 250Gb HD with serial ATA interface and shifted my games and music partitions there...

1. the data rate pwnz that of my old IDE HD out of the window O_o
2. Now I have enough disk space to defragment my data... at last, it was getting uber-fragmented :ninja:ninja.gif

and I also got myself a wireless/LAN DSL router... now all my comps have internet and I can throw LAN-parties without having to change a thing!

they are nice to have. I would like to have SATA in my comp, but that would either figuing out which PCI card to remove, or buying a new Mobo, CPU, and RAM.

mmm... I 'd go for the latter. PCI cards have a maximum data rate that's comparable to that of IDE HDs... So, speedwise, a SATA PCI extension card does nuthin.

Of course, if you have PCI-E, nvm that above.
