[APRIL FOOLS JOKE] OS 2.71 Released
« on: March 31, 2011, 07:02:29 pm »
Have you guys heard the news? TI just released OS 2.71. Here's the link. Go get it.

I'm pretty busy so I don't have much time to test it out tonight, but if I find anything cool, I'll definitely tell you guys.

Hmm people on IRC says it still says 2.55MP on TI website. ??? I'll try it on my calc after posting about Benumbered 2.0 because sometimes TI woN't update their page automatically.

When did you download it?
In case you are wondering where I went, I left Omni back in 2015 to form CodeWalrus due to various reasons explained back then, but I stopped calc dev in 2016 and am now mostly active on the CW Discord server at https://discord.gg/cuZcfcF

Hmm strange. People say they loaded it on WabbitEmu and it still says 2.55MP and is the same lenght.

That said, I don't really trust WabbitEmu sometimes, so I'm installing on my 84+ right now. Also it could be possible that TI released a new OS but forgot to update the page about the OS, because they did it with 83P 1.19.

Nope, I managed to grab a copy.  I still refuse to install 2.* MP OSes on my calculator, though, so don't expect much from me.

Weird, it's 2.55 for me too. Did TI remove it from their website or something?

I downloaded to get 2.55 as well.

If they did, it would have to be at around 7 or so, forum default time, and then removed by 7:09. :-\

He sent you a copy? Are you sure it's really 2.71? Anyway I PM'ed him so he can send me a copy, assuming it's real and that he kept an off-calc one.

I think TI posted a new OS online then it got removed. Maybe they only plan to release it when the CX comes out and an employee uploaded it earlier by mistake? To me, it would be possible that with the CX, that they bridge the gap between the 84+ and the Nspire with a new 84+ update, because they did the same thing when Nspire OS 2.0 came out, by releasing 2.54 MP.

I wonder if the 84+ could theoretically ever get stuff like 3D graphing or full TI-89-like pretty-print interface style?

It looks like they did.  I wrote a simple website tracker a long time ago, and set it up to watch for new OSes (among other things) and it said that the download was changed twice, then gave me 2.71 and 2.55.

Oh right. However let's not post copyrighted material on the forums. I think this stuff should be done via e-mail. Don't send flood of e-mails to beg for a copy, though, because then you most likely gonna all get ignored, lol.

Anyway Thepenguin seems away now, as he isn't responding to my PM.

Also, I installed the OS on my 84+ and it's effectively 2.55 MP that is available for download right now.
