From now on, the _____ of _____ of every year shall be known as Necropost Day. On this day, members are encouraged to post in topics at least one (1) year dormant if possible. If this is not possible, any topic deemed dead by popular consent may be substituted.
Good idea? ;D

I nominate the 5th of November so that all will remember.
-
What's happening in particular that day?
/me is not from USA so he is unsure x.x
-
It's from the movie V for Vendetta. :P

I second this :P
-
Yeah, why not? :P
-
Remember Remember the 5th of November the Necropost era we sought, I see of no reason the Necropost season should ever be be forgot
-
Aaah I see AOC ^^
Personally I think late October would be more suitable for necropost month, because on United-TI this always have been the month where all of a suddent, threads that are several years old gets revived for absolute no reason x.x

There's a reason: schools start around this time, and many people get their first calcs, discover the calc community, and post to topics that are old, not bothering to view the last post date.
Anyway, the fifth of November sounds nice. I wonder if we'll actually do this... (I don't care when, in all honesty)
-
Yeah but doesn't school start like in late August/early September? Normally, from experience, people come on forums a bit earlier because they get their calc and want to load it with math programs and games (or just the later :P) to be ready for school. Even forums tend to get a lot of new members at that time. It seems, however, that United-TI in particular gets a suddent necropost month in October almost every year x.x
And I would prefer if we did not necropost on purpose x.x, else the board will look spammish or we'll have misleading discussions (example: when someone asks help and somebody replies 2 years later and everyone thinks it's a recent question or the member have returned x.x)
-
It's funny that this topic has turned somewhat serious. I say we do it! It could be a new Omnimaga meme! =P In order to control it though, we should just choose one thread and let it be in the randomness section, so it won't affect the board overall, and it wont mess with post counts.
-
That's what I thought. Else it will be a real spam fest and might encourage new members into joining x.x (and give them bad habits when they visit other forums)

A must to third this.
But it would be more cool, adding the rule you had on non randomness posts to need to bring something new to the topic.
-
True that could work :P
Also on that day we do a blue lobster cooking demonstration :P
-
Honestly I'm not sure on it. Wouldn't it be pure spam? =/
For every ASCII character of spam posted one (1) Cherry Flavor Dragon dies. :(
-
No! Not the cherry-flavored dragons!
* calcdude the hypocrite then proceeds to kill 131 cherry-flavored dragons, since there are just that many characters on this line.

Yeah that's my fear. IMHO we shouldn't encourage new people to do stuff that involves more forum moderation that most people dislike. I personally dislike when I see a topic with new replies then I discover it was an outdated topic with unjustified bump.

Not meant to be in any way serious.

We could have Omnimaga holidays/occasions in general...like 8/24 could be "founder's day (http://ourl.ca/2598/54125)", 2/1 "Axe [Parser?] Day (http://ourl.ca/4050/74737)", etc.
