It just takes a crapload of experimenting and then some to ascend the learning curve and get it to do what you want it to do.
I think that applies to a lot of things in life, including people.

It can be hard to get used to it and take a while to experiment but the result can be worth it. That said some people won't get used to sftwares as easily as others, though.

I kinda prefered the Mac version to the Windows version due to controls, but I think the Windows version improved a lot afterward on that sense. At college we had Photoshop 6.0 I think. :P
