Are you sure you didn't affect something on your local computer? Mine looks the same.
Did you install anything that would come with fonts recently?

Don't worry. I was on a school computer, and the monitoring software that they use changed the font when they were monitoring me.

I actually like the appearance. I don't have FiraSans on my laptop, but it seems to fallback to droidsans, which I like even more!
But the kerning looks awful..

FiraSans should be downloaded by your browser and then use that. What browser are you using?

Opera 12.16 on openSUSE 12.3 x86_64.
Or could it just be that Firasans looks almost exactly like DroidSans (including the kerning and other letter spacing issues)?
Edit: Tried in Firefox (25). Everything seems to be twice as big now and the font looks bold AND awful.

It could just be that Opera doesn't like fonts. You'd have to look at what font is actually being used in the debug tools.

Damn, the font changed. Some text is still in Verdana, so it looks pretty weird and disproportionate.

I disabled caching completely and did a full reload.

Reverted the size increase.... people were complaining that it was too small, now it's too big. Nobody is ever happy.

I don't notice much difference on my side it seems. What is the default font now? (It used to be verdana)

You wouldn't need it installed, the @font-face declarations in the CSS would tell your browser where to get the font files to use.

I assume that this allows you to get the font from an external server, right, not just Omni's? (to avoid copyright problems)

@font-face doesn't allow for external loading. Fira Sans happens to be under the SIL Open Font License (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SIL_Open_Font_License), so all is good.

Ah ok. Oh well, at least if the font is under that license then it's fine anyway :)
Will the new Omni site use Comic Sans? It's so wow. :trollface:
