Title: DJ (and to a lesser extent juju) in danger?
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on September 29, 2012, 05:03:13 pm
O.O

According to the newspaper article, at least 1 person out of 1625 in this area is a pedophile or someone who was arrested at least once for rape. O.O

Not surprisingly, in my city to the south of the river, the bulk of them is located in the shipyard neightboorhood (often nicknamed the Bronx). I wonder what's the population just for that area? Because that seems to be a pretty high ratio! O.O

EDIT: This maps appears to only include the ones who got caught in 2011! O.O

Meh, the interactive map is VIP-only. Might check it out as soon as I'll get that VIP account (free for subscribers to the newspaper).

Yeah I just bothered with the small maps shown by default on the news page. I felt it was rather dumb to force people to pay to see if their kids might be at risk in their area.

Does Canada not have something like the US's sexual offenders registry that lets you see that without paying?

I'm not sure if they have any public one. It seems like this newspaper managed to acquire some data and published anything that is legal to publish, but used that map as a marketting strategy to lure new paid subscribers.

I think there's no such registry in Canada, but you can easily get all the cases about sexual offenses at the local court and compile all of them on a map, that's pretty much the newspaper did. But the interactive maps are part of their paid offerings, it's written on their website (prolly to lure new customers to buy the newspaper).

But are Canadians like Americans? "I'm Tom and I enjoy being american and easily swayed by propaganda. SPORTS! SPORTS! SPORTS!" lol

Well I guess it is ok for now since maybe it will get deleted there but even if it isn't I'm not too fond of the idea of forcing ppl to pay to know if their kids might be in danger.
