I've been root admin of several forums and the only time my PMs were THAT bad is when I had a girlfriend. D=

Woah, geez!
I have about 15 pms, and I've been here for two months.

Clear your inbox once in a while. :P

I tend to be OCD about that. I can't stand having a ton of messages accumulated in my e-mail, for instance. I frequently delete things I've already read and responded to.

I don't delete.

Same as juju here. I think on Gmail I got 7203 msgs (altough this includes notifications of PMs, FB, my old Youtube account and new members joining Omnimaga/TIMGUL). I sometimes enjoy going back through old calc e-mails and sometimes it brings me back old memories, especially when I land on an old version of a calc game somebody sent me or that I sent someone.

As for forum PMs, keep in mind two or three of them are rickrolls I received, though :P, and I think about 10 are from Nerd83+/Ideasfactory83+ (all within the same hour, IIRC)

I have 205 total PMs.  91 of them are from DJ, including two rickrolls. ;D

I wouldn't be surprised if Quigibo had a lot. I hope he isn't overhelmed too much with questions, though. That's one thing I've been worrying about Axe success x.x

Fortunately, since a lot of people here are experienced with it, they'll be able to help too, though, but still, I remember when I got 10 emails a day about ROL3 and Zelda DLQ on how to install it. If it was like that with just games, imagine with a new programming language

:c
Do you really need to personally go through each and every pm?
Surely you could delegate a lot of the questions/requests...

Post by: DJ Omnimaga on November 10, 2010, 02:27:17 pm
Oh I don't get as much requests anymore. The small red notice in my sig kinda helped. I can't imagine how many PMs I would have now if I also got requests. O.O

Totally off topic, but what does 'Perdidisti ludum' mean?
Title: Re: The price of being root admin of a forum
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on November 10, 2010, 03:39:59 pm
It means "You have lost the game." in latin.

I noticed that a while ago, since I knew what it said. :P

It might be better as "Ludum perdidisti", though, as in Latin verbs tend to go at the end of the sentence or phrase.

I think I sent about 15 of those so far. :P

Also, one of them was kinda unexpected, because it was after JoeYoung/Metagross111 got banned, I sent a PM to the entire staff called "IMPORTANT!!! About Metagross ban!!" , but the PM contained a rickroll. :P

I think these situations gotta be the best moment to rickroll people. J/k :P

Oh wait wow I remember you were staff too. How could have I forgotten that?? I think at one point I should write a new About page, listing all staff that were part of this team at one point.

Post by: TIfanx1999 on November 11, 2010, 04:36:09 am
I dunno, life's busy sometimes and we forget the details. :P Maybe a History of Omnimaga section? It could be sticked and possibly locked so it doesn't get over 9000 posts. =) There could be a section where former staff could be listed.

I would most likely put it in the Misc->Articles section or directly as Misc->About as a page like the rules.

That would be neat.  I like that idea.
Would you include the Non-Staff IRC ChanOps?

I'm not too sure. Eventually I might and I might include the staff from the old board and the IRL Omnimaga team.

I think theres a not complete list at brandonw's wiki.
btw, who was in the IRL Omnimaga team?  do any of them still frequent calc forums?
Title: Re: The price of being root admin of a forum
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on November 14, 2010, 05:25:31 am
They never actually made it to forums. One guy helped me work on Mystique: La Larme du Dragon (most of the story and design) and my bro helped me on Illusiat 9 and designed Mana Force 2. That was before we even had a site. And yeah the list on BrandonW wiki isn't complete and up to date. On the old Invisionfree board, I included most retired staff who actually contributed signifiantly as staff.
