Title: TI is lying!
Post by: aeTIos on June 09, 2011, 05:57:58 am
EPIC LIE!
Quote from: What the F*ck?

Can I enter text in lower case on the TI-83 family, TI-84 Plus family, or TI-Nspire handheld in TI-84 Plus mode?

It is not possible to enter lower case letters directly on the TI-83 family, TI-84 Plus family, or TI-Nspire in TI-84 Plus mode. However, users with a TI-83 Plus family, TI-84 Plus family, or TI-Nspire in TI-84 Plus mode have an option available.

Upper and lower case letters may be entered by using the NoteFolio™ App for the TI-83 Plus and TI-84 Plus Family.

This App will work with the TI Keyboard, however, it is important to note that the TI Keyboard will not enter lower case letters on its own.

Please see the TI-83 family and TI-84 Plus family guidebooks for additional information.

Note: TI-Nspire in TI-84 Plus mode users may refer to the TI-84 Plus family guidebook.

I'm confused xD

That's epicly funny.  Not directly, but directly, but not directly.  So what directly are you trying to say here?

I am at a total loss to understand how ti can stay in business and demonstrate again and again such incompetence and I am at a total loss to understand how ti can stay in business by not demonstrating never again and again such incompetence.  Nice that they got caught in a lie for a change.

TI is actually quite competent in most of their main areas. Calculators aren't really a moneymaker for them, so they don't put much effort into them. Also, most companies are incompetent. The [commercial] market rarely judges based on the quality of products, ironic as it may sound.

Anyway, I have to say that this isn't really a lie. You *can't* enter lowercase letters with the keypad alone. You need additional software to unlock that capability. It's little different than the fact that your computer has the ability to run just about every game imaginable, but you can't access that capability unless you've purchased the software to do so.

How is it a lie.  You can't access it directly.  You have to have some program that can turn on lowercase instead of it being available through a menu option.
Or did I read it incorrectly ???

It's actually a bit different. The lowercase capability is built in into the OS and activated by a third-party program, while a PC wouldn't already have every game loaded onto it when you buy it. Something like this is more comparable to the coffee minigame in GTA IV - it's there, but you can't really access it. (The game's age rating was increased anyway.)
