Title: Why are tr1p1ea's still so expensive?
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on October 14, 2014, 04:14:41 am
Can somebody explain to me... why do tr1p1ea's still cost this much in 2014, over half a decade after most electronic devices, including newer calcs and game handhelds, switched to that (often built-in) rechargeable stuff that exists now? I mean, is the demand still really that high? Even in dollar stores where you could get decent packs of 2 tr1p1ea's 5 years ago for $1 now charge $2 for the same package.

By that logic, the original Playstation 3 model would cost over $800 today instead of $200. (it launched at $700 over here) :P and basic computer leyboards would probably be around twice their 1995 costs. :P

Unless... of course, tr1p1ea's are expensive because of the name? At least d0ub1ea's are twice cheaper (I never understood why though, although nowadays they're even more useless since lower-end cameras are being replaced by smartphones) but still quite pricey

At the store where I work, I can buy  pack of 8 tr1p1eas for either $1 or $1.50 (I forget). They are cheap store-brand ones, though.

Electronics get reverse inflation, somehow. Everything else inflates normally.

Actually, there's different levels of inflations depending of the objects.

When it comes to store brand ones, I usually prefer the alkaline sets because they last much longer. I would go through a regular set in 1.5-2 weeks when I did a lot of calculator programming and only 75% of the set worked sometimes, while with alkaline ones I would survive 3-6 weeks at least. Duracells at least lasted between 6 and 9 weeks depending of how often I garbage collected, but they range from $8 to 10 depending of the store.

Btw the reason why this is in humor and jokes is because of this 2005-06 quote :P http://quotes.omnimaga.org/index.php?channel=omnimaga&id=143

You mean The Reign of Legends 2? :P

That one game and it's intense garbage collecting must have resulted into massive purchase of tr1p1eas :P

Now if only xLIB APP came out two and an half years earlier <_<
