Title: Greetings Calc-lings!
Post by: C0deH4cker on October 18, 2011, 06:11:05 pm
Hello everyone. I am new here (duh, that's why i'm writing an intro). Heres how i discovered the site:

I recently got a ti84 + SE (for precalc), and was browsing ticalc when i found programs made with axe. I was curious, because ive programmed with ti-basic and xlib, and have even touched asm before. Then i found the axe parser and instantly installed it. Then, i found builderboy's first beta for portal x and played it for a few days before discovering the Portal X topic. I spent a good hour reading every single post there, partly to help me learn axe techniques (and all of the optimization and pitfalls that he faced), partly to learn techniques for game programming, and partly to have PORTAL ON MY CALCULATOR!!! Epic thought there. Well, thats how i found you guys. Heres something about myself:

I am 16 years old and an avid programmer. I have an ipod touch (which is what im using right now) that i develop with. I have pretty much mastered python, and im learning objc, among other languages. Now i want to learn z80 assembly and axe. I am a member of the following forums (all ipod forums):

http://ihackerpro.com
This was my first forum that i was ever active on. I know almost everybody there and i have access to the staff room.

http://ihackmyi.com
This is another forum that is related to iHackerPro. I am no longer active there due to personal conflicts with them.

http://ininjas.com
This is a growing forum that I helped to create. It is centered around developing and hacking from iDevices. It is a cydia repo as well.

That is where i came from, and i hope to stay (although it would be nice if this site had a mobile theme for the forum).

O0

P.S.:
Sorry if im not allowed to post links to other forums; they are not on the same topic though and it is just to let you guys know more about me. If its a problem, then a mod can remove the links, i dont mind.

Nah, it's fine.  I'd actually say it's encouraged - it's more on topic discussion.

Have you made any significant calc programs?

I wrote a maze engine in ti-basic + xlib, but it got wiped out in a mem clear. I use DCS7 though, and it was archived, but i have too many mods installed on my calc and i think my archive might be slightly messed up.

Most of what i do on the iDevice platform is porting programs to iOS. I ported a program that lets you run windows exes (only if they are .NET apps). Its all on the repo for those of you who have jailbroken idevices.

I found that i had made a backup of my maze engine and made another maze for the levels. Also added a function where when you press MODE it inverts the screen.

Heya and welcome here. :D Feel free to post updates on your calc and iOS projects. Some of us got both actually. I myself got an iPod Touch.

Also it would be nice indeed if the site had a mobile theme or app like TI-Planet does. The current mobile themes http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?imode and http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?wap2 are kinda limited. X.x

if you check out the mobile theme of ininjas, it uses a heavily modified version of SMF4iPhone theme. Many of the changes were made by the admin of iHackerPro, and then he let us have his modified theme, where I added many more features.

Yeah but for some reasons, some of the text is much larger than it's supposed to be.

Isn't it paid, though? I remember I went on SMF site once for an iPhone app and it was not free...

its not an app, its a theme. if you click here (http://ininjas.com/forum/?theme=12), youll see what i mean. and its completely free. also, the theme that we based it on is H4CK3R's (admin of iHackerPro) variant of SMF4iPhone, and it is open source on Github.

Post by: DJ Omnimaga on October 19, 2011, 04:37:44 pm
Ah ok. I thought it was kinda like an app. That said Omni tries to not add too many themes, though, because then it becomes even more a major PITA to edit the site templates like the navbar at the top. For example, when adding the IRC link, we need to edit 5-6 templates one by one. The best thing would be if someone modified the WAP/i-mode files so they look decent enough to be useable and support attachments.

you know, i could help out, as i have experience with smf template modifying. I added polls, karma, moderator functions, and many more features to the ininjas mobile theme. with an extra person to help, it wouldnt be as long.

Well it would probably require some test site or something, because I doubt any of the staff will give out admin access to random people. It would definitively be nice to have at least one forum theme that works fine in mobile devices, however, providing that the color scheme is similar to Omnimaga's.

Post by: C0deH4cker on October 19, 2011, 04:50:56 pm
I understand completely, and really do not expect you to give me access to your forum's code files, especially considering that i only have 12 posts. If you would hand over admin access to some person you dont really know, dont expect to have your site stay secure :P. But we could get a free webhost that supports php (which is another language that i am good with) and try it out there.

True, plus we got vandalized by someone who had 4000 posts and was a great/trustworthy staff for the 1.5 years before he suddenly rebelled against every existing authority in the world. :P
Title: Re: Greetings Calc-lings!
Post by: C0deH4cker on October 19, 2011, 05:00:27 pm
wow... that sucks. never thought that would happen. there are some people from the various forums that ive mentioned that ive known for over a year and have posted 10000 or more posts over all 3, and we trust them all. There are 7 people who have root access to the ininjas server, and all are known very well.

Yeah usually a lot of the people we added to the team are very trustable. With that particular high poster, the issue was that after he moved out of his parents home, where he was not allowed to do anything, he suddenly started to rebel against authority, now that he had more freedom, and sadly he did the same on Omni.

The conversation here reminded me about this stuff and search on it. Apparently he was appointed as CoT (reappointed after inactivity) and soon after began to be rude and authoritative to other staff. Then one day he was talking with Eeems on irc and it turned into an argument which casued the banned person to kick everyone from irc.
So there was a bit of a warning

There was a sign that he might eventually get demoted or tempbanned again because he was getting increasingly obnoxious and trying to challenge authority like he did once before here, but nothing this bad.

I thought you meant the topic on programs released that were made with axe. Not axe itself. I think that axe is fine for now, although (i may just not see it, but) there could be a way to do a B_CALL(adr) with axe. Seems like it would be easy enough. Just for the times when there is a native assembly function to do something that axe can't. I guess you could just put the address in HL and then run a hex() call that does the rst 28h and then does the actuall call to HL, and that would be easy enough to just make a simple axe subroutine for. It doesnt matter either way, really.

I don't exactly remember about B_Calls, but I think those were much slower than the Axe routines themseleves for the most part. Not sure why they are not possible, though. You could always ask him in his sub-forum.
