Title: Hello everybody
Post by: yrinfish on March 11, 2011, 04:12:27 pm
A little introduction.
I started programming in Axe about three months ago, and haven't written a single line of TI-BASIC since then. I am also able to program in some computer languages: Java, PHP, (a little bit) C, (X)HTML and JS, but those two aren't really computer languages. I live in the Netherlands, so if I make any language mistakes, correct me.
I have written a Doodle Jump clone called DionJump in Axe. Currently I'm adding functions to it. I'm also making a clone of Angry Birds, but that one isn't doing anything useful yet.

I hope I'm going to learn much here.

Yrnfsh

Edit1: added the word "language"
Edit2: whoa, got some sort of ninja'd on my FIRST post :o

Welcome yrinfish!

I hope you can make a topic in the 'Other Calc projects and ideas' forum for each of your projects, I can't wait to see screnies.

Hope you enjoy your time here, also I am also an Axe programmer and Axe>TI-Basic, Axe ftw.

Mistakes? "You live in Nederlands" instead of "You live in the Netherlands".

We have an user from there too! His name is aeTIos.

Welcome to Omnimaga!

The peanuts are just a meme we have here.

Don't worry too much about language mistakes -- we have a decent number of people from various countries so we're pretty tolerant.

You should make a thread about your game!

Heya and welcome on the forums. I can't wait to see your projects in action when you can post about them and I hope you enjoy your stay. :D

Don't worry about language mistakes: A lot of members here including myself don't speak English as native language. Just be careful about iPod Touch auto-correct features, since they sometimes give questionable results. :D

As for the peanut thing, you can read about it on this page: http://ourl.ca/7071 . It's located below the reference about old Internet memes like rickroll/AYBABTU.

yrinfish, I think you will like this:
http://userbars.removedfromgame.com/
With it you can create cool looking progress bars to put in your signature (like the one in mine)

Anyway, welcome to the forums!

I like the ASCII look of it,
And thanks for the peanuts

Yeah that site is quite cool. It'sa bit like userbars.com but I like it better personally. It's also made by a forum member that used to be staff and even admin here. There's also http://img.removedfromgame.com to upload images and screenshots so you can upload stuff by the time you reach 5 posts outside this section or if uploading doesn't work for you here for any reason.

Welcome yrinfish, I hope you enjoy it here.
Also, I'm from Belgium, so I understand your language ;)

Oh right, in Belgium there was a dutch and french part. Do you understand French btw Stefan Bauwens?

Well, I must learn it for school, but I'm not good at it at all. Maybe if I read a french sentence 10 times I might understand it a bit. But I gotta learn still a lot of french.

Aah ok. I remember you had to learn it but I wasn't sure if you could write in both dutch and french as well. Over here we must learn English too, besides French, but with only school english learning, your english quality is much lower. Even today I do plenty of mistakes, but back in 2003 it was terrible in some cases. O.O

It wouldn't surprise me if I know English better than Dutch because we talk here English at home. My father and mother traveled trough many countries, and when they came back to Belgium they decided to talk English.

Really? I guess it can be understood. Just as long as you can interact well with people who speak the main language around where you live (after having lived where you are for years, of course, since it can take time to learn a language well). Sometimes I call at places over here and sometimes the person barely even knows French, despite it being the main language here. X.x

What language do they speak then?
Oh, probably English. ;D
Title: Re: Hello everybody

Chineese, spanish, italian, whatever language muslim people use, english, etc. About 30% of the people in Montreal won't even speak english nor french . Otherwise in most cases if someone doesn't know French well enough then it's English.

Oh, I see. Better start learning those other languages, DJ_O!

j/k :)

Are you Flemish or (oh what is the name of Walloniƫ in English)?
Title: Re: Hello everybody
Post by: Jim Bauwens on March 12, 2011, 08:44:19 am
Yep, he is Flemish (just like me, because he is my brother).
I think that "Waals" is "Walloon", but I'm not sure of that.

OK, two brothers, are you twins?
Title: Re: Hello everybody
Post by: Stefan Bauwens on March 12, 2011, 12:37:10 pm
No, HAPPILY NOT!/me looks disgusted at the though of the ugly face of his brother
j/k Jim!
He's older than me and he's (supposed) to be more experienced(which he is).
So yeah, welcome and I hope your projects will become good games.

Ah ok but I thought they used different but similar languages in some countries, not just arabic in all of them.
