Title: Hello Everyone!
Post by: kucalc on January 30, 2007, 02:14:00 pm
Hello everyone! I heard that this site is great for game development and I thought I can get some good tips from here. I'm a active member of the UCF. In fact, that was how I found this place, on the casiocalc.org Link's Page: http://www.casiocalc.org/?to=ucnlinkspage.php

It seems this place is mainly for TI's, but what I plan to do here is to gather help on a game I'm developing for the fx-9860SD(hoping that it will become the first side-scroller for the Casio fx-9860), since Casio has made a ultra-awesome SDK.

Hope no one bashes me, because I'm a Casio fan...

I hope for you there are casio users here.

Anyway, welcome in here! :)smile.gif

Just hope there won't be tons of peanuts on the floor of the topic.

Welcome, I don't think there are any Casio users here (which makes you all the more welcome :)smile.gif) but I'm sure you can find other useful things such as awsome pixle artests which are always cross compatible and peanuts.

Hello and welcome to Omnimaga! We hope you enjoy your stay!

o/t why do Casio calculators have so long names like "FX9750G+" or "Casio fx-9860"? Why can't they keep it short like TI does? o/t

BTW, if Spellshaper doesn't show up sooner or later, I'll have do his job, which I suspect he will not like. But newcomers always need their share of peanuts XDsmiley.gif !

Anyway welcome here! :)smile.gif Over where i live They only have one casio model they sell but I may get it, if I remember it was the AFX, Graph 100 or CFX, if it's AFX I could get MLC games on it :)smile.gif

I suggest you get the fx-9860(or Graph85, as they call it in Europe) instead of the Algebra FX. The Algebra FX (called Graph100 in Europe) has lived it's days already, although still a good calculator, it's starting to become obsolete.

CASIO's newest calculator, released in 2005, (besides ClassPad 300 PLUS), the fx-9860SD, is the fastest and most powerful non-CAS calc as of right now. Some features:

* 1.5MB built-in flash
* SD card slot, allowing max of 1GB storage (or however big SD cards are right now)
* It's about 5-7 times faster than TI & CASIO non-CAS calcs. CPU is a SuperH 32-bit RISC clocked initially at 40MHz. However, it can be clocked up to 160MHz executing 233MIPS(Million Instructions Per Sec.)
* High-quality crisp clear display (unlike the AFX)

In January 2007, about 1.75 years after the release of the calculator, CASIO has finally made a SDK which brings opportunities. I'm hoping some people here can help me port MLC.  :)smile.gif

Yes, the old CASIO's BASIC were very slow, but the fx-9860's BASIC is REALLY fast.  :)smile.gif

Well, considering our TI calcs go to a max of 15 mhz (6 for normal/+ 83s), it would be weird if Casio's baisc wasn't faster.

Isn't it 5 Mhz on the normal TI-83+/84+?

For programming, in my opinion TI>HP=CASIO. But CASIO makes really good nonCAS calculators and scientific too (much better than TI especially 115ES).

Yes, the fx-9860 certainly comes with a USB cable.

Thanks for the welcome. Yes, CASIO's do have assembly & C support:

* Casio Algebra FX(Oldest) - C/C++, Pascal, x86 assembly, any compiler that works for Intel 8086 and of course BASIC
* Casio ClassPad 300(somewhat new) - C/C++, LUA and BASIC
* Casio fx-9860(newest model) - C/C++, SuperH assembly, hoping to port LUA soon, and BASIC
