Title: Hello, Frinkeldoodle here!
Post by: Frinkeldoodle on August 03, 2013, 07:42:40 pm
Well, I myself have recently just acquired a TI-Nspire, and being a tinkerer by heart I realized it'd be fun if I did some programming and hacking on it :P

Anyways, I'm Frinkeldoodle, or Frinkel for short. I like to try to learn how to program, but then I wind up procrastinating on the learning and eventually just not learn anything. Perhaps this time I'll change and I'll actually learn something XD There are also times where I do silly things and I tend to be a bit zany. Don't mind me in such scenarios.

Anyways, I don't have much more to say... Oh, I could talk a bit more about what I already did with my calculator...
I downgraded it to 3.1, then I installed ndless, then I used that dual-boot nLaunch pack (Ndless 3.2 Switching Pack) so I could switch betwixt 3.1+Ndless and 3.2 (and admittingly, that's not exactly all I did, but I am not one to cheat on tests and exams.) Then I installed the GBC emulator and put the Pokemon bootlegged Crystal Vietnamese ROM in there for some hilarity. I'm loving how well it all seems to work. :3

I was also made incredibly happy by how easy the downgrade process was from 3.2 to 3.1 for me. I'm used to the very painstaking processes that iOS requires you to go through (back up SHSH blobs in the past, set up SHSH stuff, start iTunes, download a couple hundred megabytes file, plug it into iTunes, pray that it works), and the simple import and accept process that the Nspire software let me do made me very, very happy. I understand that the NSpire CX out there on retail has a bit of a hard time doing that, but I'm happy I didn't have that trouble.

Aaanywaaayyysss, that's all I have to say. Hi!

Welcome here on Omnimaga!

Yeah, that was nice of TI to allow downgrading from 3.2 to 3.1, or else you'd have to solder some wires...

Also have some peanuts!

Heya and welcome here. Glad you found an Nspire with a downgradeable OS :)

Good luck with your calc and feel free to ask questions if you ever have any. :)

I also had this experience (iOS downgrading). My own CX shipped with OS 3.0 though so I was lucky. :P The thing is, to downgrade your Boot2 you need extra hardware (a TTL-USB adapter, nothing too fancy) or Ndless. :P SInce it's not ported to 3.2.x yet, many people are stuck.
