Title: Hello, Onimaga!
Post by: Calculatorer on May 29, 2009, 11:24:25 am
I first came to this site yesterday from ticalc.org. I downloaded a couple games and I thought they were wicked awesome.

Anyways, I program in very basic BASIC, by which I mean someone types something in, like 2+2, and it comes out as 3213.I have a lot of time nowadays so I plan on learning how to make some BASIC games. ASM seems too complicated, so my ideas will have to stay as ideas and suggestions.

I'd love to help, I know of some good guides that you can use to learn BASIC, in fact I am working on one myself. Here (http://www.cemetech.net/programs/index.php?mode=file&path=/text/calcinfo/btutor.zip) is one of the best I've seen so far, and when you are done with that take a look at this (http://www.cemetech.net/programs/index.php?mode=file&path=/text/calcinfo/1337basicguide.zip) for optimizations.
I'd love to hear your ideas and such, I might not personally be able to help that often because I don't have a lot of time right now, but I'll try my best

Fresh man in calculators aboard!

Have fun learning. http://tibasicdev.wikidot.com/home is a great source for basic.
To ASM if you have no experience in others language than TI-BASIC, it is quite difficult. But me only knowing TI-BASIC, I learnt ASM... So I don't consider impossible besides you have to be smart...

wlecome. dont have much to suggest as the best have already been told, but a good way, if you dont have ticonnect or whatnot, is to copy the source by hand. yeah it takes forever, but i did this for 6 months for any new games, then i got ticonnect to work, but that really expanded my basic vocabulary and stuff. it helps you understand the code better than most tutorials could.

Hi and welcome to Omnimaga :)

You might find some interesting help in the Calc help and support section (where you can also find a link to the help and support section from the old Omnimaga board), altough if you haven't checked alerady, TI-BASIC Developper and TI-Freakware tutorials are quite good too. If you got a very old TI-82 or 83+ manual it can help too, as they are more complete than the TI-83+SE/84+ ones

{AP} also got some nice beginners tutorials for TI-BASIC on Youtube, if you prefer a tutorial in video form. They are far from being finished though, but they might still help:

If you got ideas for ASM projects feel free to suggest them, though. Unlike every other TI calculator forums, the projects ideas section allows you to suggest projects ideas for others too
