Hi, my name is will and I feel like programming something on the nspire. I might as well since i'm getting one in a few days. You can spot me if you find ridiculous ideas all over the place that may or may not be possible. I'm still not too familiar with any calculator stuff except BASIC, so I'll probably say a lot of uninformed stuff.
Does this forum email responses? I would prefer it if it's available.
-
Double Post: How come I'm not allowed to play games at the arcade?
-
hello, and welcome to omnimaga. dont worry about carzy ideas, there are quite a few here already, most becoming realities ;D If i remember correctly, theres a notify of new responses toggle when you make a post, which emails u. Also, you need 50 posts to play in the arcade. :P
and there is a modify button...
-
Welcome here! Glad to see another person come to Omnimaga. Hope you enjoy it here.
By the way, I would check out rule #3 real fast.
But again welcome here! You should be receiving peanuts sometime soon :P
And here they are O0

I'm afraid I don't understand the peanuts reference.
Rule 3 refers to double posting, right? I found the edit button right after I posted. Sorry!
-
Ya, it does. There has been a pretty big issue with it lately.
And it is just a big Omnimaga thing from a long time ago, that I don't even really know :P But all new people get a bag :)
-
Hi and welcome here! I hope you stick around for a while (and enjoy programming for the Nspire :))
As for the peanut thing it's an old Omnimaga local meme that was started 4 years ago by Spellshaper. At first he said "Hi and doN,t forget to grab peanuts at Omnimaga entrance" then I did a bag of peanuts photoshopped with Omnimaga logo on it. For some unknown reasons, this meme survived the 6 months of downtime we had in 2008 :P
-
Aah, good to know that. I like internet memes.
Welcome, Will!
-
Welcome to Omnimaga, Will.
I hope to see great things from you in the future.
Remember, we are REALLY friendly.
Just ask for help and you will receive in the next 14 years.
:D
-
Just ask for help and you will receive in the next 14 years.
That's when people applies for staff, they receive a response within that time. Not when asking for help D:
-
Oh.
My mistake.
What DJ said.
-
Keep in mind one would have to be active for a long while to become staff, though :P so that doesn't really apply here yet
-
Hehe, I don't think I'm staff material. I am too irregular in my schedule. i am the exact opposite of OCD in about everything except programming. My room has a pathway, so it's clean, but my calc program has a bug, so it has now been moved from complete to pre-alpha stage.
Interesting Meme. How long has Omnimaga been around?
-
Omnimaga has existed since September 2001, but only made it online on March 3rd 2004. It used to just be a team of programmers/game designers/planners in real life at school, but by the end of 2003 I ended up alone and then I decided to try making our programs known online on a Omnimaga forum, which never really took off. In parralel to that, I started an Omnimaga portal dedicated solely to calc RPGs. Eventually I disbanded Omni as a team, but the RPG site remained online. After a few requests in May 2005 I restarted a forum and this time it slowly took off to become one of the most active TI site (it had 55000 posts at the end of 2007). The RPG division hasn't been updated as much anymore afterward but is still here in the downloads section, as well as Articles section.
In Jan 2008 inter-community rivalries lead to Omnimaga demise and we went dormant/offline until August 2008, then activity slowly picked up again to finally skyrocket starting in November 2009 and here we are.
Btw nice avatar :D where is it from? For some reasons it's almost as if I saw it before, somewhere.
-
Its from Chrono Trigger right? Welcome by the way. :)
-
Yeah, Chrono Trigger. It's the one dude that is taken over by Yakra, the Chancellor. I loved the face when I first saw it.
So did you write Axe Parser? It looks awesome, but I don't have an 83+ to try it out.
-
Aaah nice ^^ I should really play CT again sometimes. I played on my Playstation 1 but I got tired of the ridiculous loading times, so I gave up. I'm gonna grab a SNES copy or a ROM at one point since on the original console there were much less loading than on CD-ROM mediums.
-
Welcome to Omnimaga, by the way.
-
I would tell you to play Chrono Resurrection but........CoDs have more impact in that corner of Open Source Development than the calc community. It wouldv'e been awesome! Chrono trigger in 3D! For Free! On your PC! (No, I didn't intend for those to rhyme) The worst part is they kept working and made a closed demo, and someone made a youtube video of it!
Edit: Hehe, I just got a really cool idea for a profile pic. If I can make a SNES emulator, like I hope to, I could take a calc screenshot of the chancellor with that face! :P
-
Wasn't Chrono Resurrection that 3D Chrono Trigger remake that got taken down by Square Enix for copyright infrigments? I was sure that project died completly and never made it avaliable for download.
-
yeah, that was it, but they said on site they'd still finish it, just never release it. Now, there is a demo preview with actual gameplay on youtube, going to zenan bridge, with Frog and Crono.
I think Square Enix should have hired them instead :P
-
True, I remember people wanting a 3D CT clone and Square never did one. I wonder if the Chrono Resurrection team will eventually leak some versions on torrent sites...
-
I doubt it. They took the Cod Letter really seriously. According to the video, each demo version has its own serial code attached so they could tell who leaked the demo, but I doubt that would apply to the source code.
-
Well, Square Enix wouldn't have any proof that the people who got the C&D letter leaked the demo or the code. Any project can be taken over by other people, or even stolen. The authors could simply fight the C&D letter by claiming they did not know somebody had copy of the code still and decided to continue it and that they deleted their own copy altogether. In other words, it could be sneakily continued then uploaded on takedown-resistant websites in Russia or China.
-
Right, but square enix wasn't the one who put in the Identifying build numbers. The Devs did, so they would be able to cover themselves.
-
Oh I wasn't saying Square did. However, for the serial part, couldn't some of the coders actually hack the demo executable and change the serial number? I mean with softwares like Ressource Hacker.
-
Or they could use the source code they all have and remove it, but I'll bet they all had some sort of agreement on it that they didn't want any legal trouble.
I just wish they would release the engine. If they cut out the Chrono Trigger part, square wouldn't even notice.
BTW if you want Chrono Trigger well implemented, The DS version is exactly like the SNES version, but uses a touchscreen and has minimaps. Very well made. Plus it has the PSX Movie scenes, but you can disable them.
-
True they could just change the names for the game and characters as well as models. I wish I could play this x.x
I myself did a game called The Mysterious Cities Of Gold using RPG Maker 2003 3 years ago, which acted as some sort of sub-sequel to the original anime from 1982, altough not fully related to the story of the anime. I did not get issues with the game so far but on Youtube, Fabulous Films LTD forced Youtube to remove every single video with traces of MCOG content in them, even if somebody just made a fake MCOG pendent in paper x.x, so all my gameplay videos got taken down. Should I get trouble with the game itself eventually, I was planning to rename the chars and change some of the game references to the old anime.
As fot CT DS yeah I heard it was pretty good, I should give it a try someday.
-
I doubt they would even need to change the models, maybe just the textures!
That's too bad about the videos. Wasn't Ahriman's Prophecy also made with RPG Maker?
-
I don't remember. I didn't stay in the RM scene for very long. My game vids were removed due to MCOG content. RTL-NHK did not care, but the company that bought the author rights in 2008 were copyright nazis.
-
Ah, so the new owners got paranoid.
-
Maybe paranoid may not be the word, some companies are just so incredibly uptight about copyrights. It's like Warner Music Group. They used to force Youtube to remove the audio of many videos. Or Texas Instruments, with the key factoring, even if the TI community users where within their rights.
