Title: Here I am!
Post by: Michael_Lee on August 10, 2010, 02:33:06 pm
Hi - I'm a (soon to be) 10th grader living in the US.
I got interested in my TI-84 around January when I discovered (*gasp*) you can program these things!
I intrepidly googled, then came across a bunch of tutorials (tibasicdev.wikidot.com, mostly).  I made my first quadratic solver, then never looked back.
Since then, my grades in school slowly started to drop (except math), and my backpack grew significantly lighter (because I stopped checking out so many library books).
Around this June, I started getting tired of the limited graphics in BASIC, then started exploring Assembly, and then the Axe Parser.  Heehee - Axe is fun!  (Sprites!  Speed!  Grayscale!)
I'm planning on making a bunch of arcade games right now - and maybe an RPG later, if I ever figure out a unique plot.

Hmm?  Peanuts?  Rick Astley?  (And also, The Game?)

Are these sort of like memes?

Will there be a test?

I agree with qazz42 x.x

Welcome here, though :)

Btw you can do nice stuff with BASIC too, especially with stuff like dual-layer ASCII and if you use ASM libs like Doors CS, Celtic III or xLIB, but I agree for more intensive games it might be pushing it a bit too far. I am happy Axe arrived becuase I just couldn't get assembly D:

EDIT: And yeah Omnimaga peanuts as well as the blue lobster are Omnimaga-specific memes. The first one has been going on for 4 years (way back when we were on Invisionfree). The second one is newer, but got so big that it even earned itself an easter egg in OmnomIRC

yeah, the peanuts thing is only Omnimaga though, although it has spread to other TI forums.  It's customary to give new members a bag of peanuts.  :P

What test?  I don't think so.  You just join!  ;)

welcome.

Giving peanuts is kinda something we here at omnimaga do.  Netham45 is a blue lobster.  Tribal was at one point, but i think he broke the spell.

omg, you've never heard of rick Astley? wow. okay. Basically, if you click on a link, it opens up to youtube, or any site, really, and a video starts playing with the words "never gonna give you up...", you have just been rick-rolled.
Oh, and you just got text-rolled as well.

The game is a game, where if you think about the game, you automatically lose the game, and it's really impossible to win the game, because if you think about the game, and wonder if you won the game, you automatically lose the game.  Oh, and, if you haven't lost yet, THE GAME!

0x5 means lol, because 0x5 is hexadecimal for the binary 0101, or 101, or lol.

Click here (http://www.omnimaga.org/games/starcraft/starcraft.swf) to take your test.

Ha - I'm not clicking on that link!  (starcraft = rickroll)

Also, out of curiosity, how do you upload files?  I'm looking at the menu buttons right now, and I don't see anything...

But if you tell somebody about the game, doesn't it mean that you lose the game?  So in theory, only people who've never heard about the game can play the game.  Unless you're so zen that you can write type about the game without thinking about it...

Click here (http://www.omnimaga.org/games/starcraft/starcraft.swf) to take your test.

actually, the test is to survive
&feature=related three times and this:
five times.  >:D

EDIT:  you can attach stuff when you reach more than 5 non-randomness/introductory posts, before that you have to use mediafire or something.
and also, if you don't know the game, according to the official rules on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Game_(mind_game) (http://happybirthdaydj.webs.com), you dont win the game the game.

Yeah it requires 5 posts as some sort of spam protection (I remember a bot uploading some not-so-nice pics here before.)
