Hello. I'm TheNlightenedOne. I discovered this community around mid February of 2012 (via Google search). I joined in early March, but I forgot to post here. I have to say I really enjoy it here.
I'm a huge math, calculator, and computer geek. I currently own a TI-30XIIS, a TI-84+SE, and a TI-Nspire CX CAS. I know TI-BASIC, am learning C, and I plan to learn Lua and ASM (Z80 and ARM) over the summer. I have coded some things on my calculators, like a Pythagorean Theorem solver (TI-BASIC, for the TI-84) and a Fibonacci number generator (TI-BASIC, for the TI-Nspire). While I have only one post, I do browse Omnimaga often. I'm currently working on a TI-84/83 program for my teacher so that they can keep gradebooks on their graphing calculators. My next project is either a game for the TI-Nspire or perhaps a USB mass storage app for the TI-Nspire. I have a friend who also likes math and calculators, and I plan to get him on Omnimaga soon ;D.
So now that you know a little about me, you'll see me around more.

Awesome name, by the way :D And welcome here o.o I like z80 assembly, just sayin' >.>
Oh, and peanuts are for you!

Thanks for the peanuts.
-
Welcome on Omnimaga! :D Want more peanuts?

Thanks for the peanuts.
No problem :D
Also, you live in Upstate New York? I live out in the finger lakes area :D
-
Hi! Welcome to Omnimaga :D
Are "Eris" and "Aurora" the name of your calcs ? I like those names :)
See my profile (click on my name) to see what names I gave to my calcs and let me know what you think (I also "own" a TI 76.fr that never arrived and that I called Lulii).
And of course, have some more peanuts

Xeda112358: That's actually extremely cool, I didn't expect anyone to be that near me. Also, are the numbers in your username a reference to the Fibonacci series?
Hayleia: Hey, your calculators have cool names too! Although it's disappointing that you didn't get your TI-76.fr...
Everybody is making me hungry for peanuts!

Yes it is in reference o.o I do rather enjoy the sequence :D I was glad to note that you made a program for it, but I was wondering if you were using the recursive form or the closed form...
(the closed form is a function where you input n and it returns the nth Fibonacci number).
-
Xeda112358, it's recursive form, but it would be a good idea to add closed form...
-
Here is an example!
round(((sqrt(5)+1)/2)^Ans/sqrt(5),0
That takes a value in Ans (should be an integer) and uses that to find the nth number. For example, 13 returns 233 :)
-
Thanks for the algorithm, Xeda. I'll work that in later today...
-
Cool :D it is really just rounding phin/sqrt(5) where phi is the golden ration.
-
Again, thanks a lot.
It's funny; whenever I talk about the Fibonacci sequence at school, everybody looks at me like I'm crazy... oh well.
-
XD That's okay, once you make it to higher level math, you'll meet more people who love math :)
-
I hope so... my math-enthusiast friend and I are both a year ahead in math. We're (or at least I am...) thinking about learning another year of math over the summer and taking the Regents in August.

cool o.o DO you guys have IB at your school (International Baccalaureate)? If so, I would highly recommend Math SL or HL. Math SL goes into calculus, 3D spaces, linear algebra and all sorts of fun goodies.
-
Heya and welcome to the forums. :)
-
Xeda, I don't believe my school has that... :(
DJ_O, thanks.
-
Thanks for the peanuts.
No problem :D

Haha, I'm in Western New York!
-
Okay, that's just a really strange coincedence...
-
Thanks for the peanuts.
No problem :D

Non-NYC party, woo! And too bad you don't have IB :/ I greatly enjoyed it (though other subject areas were pretty tough).
EDIT: I heard IB excellently described as AP on steroids XD
-
Oh well, I can just learn stuff on my own... :P
'IB: AP on steroids"... lol

Hey I do IB!
Anyway, welcome TheNlightenedOne! Hope you enjoy your stay at Omnimaga!

Hey, thanks!

Hi TheNlightenedOne Nice to see another math person around here. I'm only in Algebra II so far but I enjoy learning math
-
Ruler501, math enthusiasts are awesome.
