Nope different friend, though still a friend.  The guy we play with has no interest in calculators.  This is the guy who actually started me on the calculators.  Then I went and learned a lot more. :P

Yep, although most emulators have a built-in record function.
I prefer recording it with Camstasia Studio though. (not free)

An emulator is a (computer) program that can simulate a calculator.  They're mostly used for testing out programs that might mess a real calculator up, or recording screenshots, or if you don't want to bother sending files to your calculator.

Oh ok. what site would you sugest getting it from

The best out there is WabbitEmu (http://www.revsoft.org/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=32&sid=5c6acc48834b9429b6044a56d87ebaaf).  The latest build is probably the most recent attachment in the "Bug reports" thread.

You also need to get a ROM image of your calculator, which is easiest to get using rom8x (http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/373/37341.html).  Follow the directions and you should be good to go :)

Or you can simply film your calc. Make sure to config your camera so it's not too blurry, though.

Thanks and i think i am going to go with the emulator, filming my calc would be way to hard.

true, i usually do it only if a game in particular (such as Snake Hunters) doesn't run properly in any existing emulator) or if I want to make a youtube video of a project and don't want everyone to post "fake"

oh ok
also cooliojazz is helping me and said he was going to create a topic about it in i believe staff projects.
although i may be wrong on where

As far as he told me he hasn't gotten home yet
and yesterday he didn't get home early enough to get on before he had to go to bed

Edit:Also i just went on the Wabbitemu website and have no idea how to get to the download.
Edit2: the rom8x doesn't work either

Well he actually just went on IRC just now. He just didn't posted in over one week and wasn't connected to anything for 3 or 4 days x.x

As for the Wabbitemu download, I know it's on http://group.revsoft.org website, but I have no clue which version is the latest stable one, someone else will probably need to awnser x.x

It says i need a rom to run it what is that?
Title: Re: hi
Post by: Iambian on November 05, 2009, 09:32:46 pm
A "ROM" in this instance is pretty much all the code and data needed by the emulator to run it as a calculator. Since providing such ROM is "legally questionable", you can obtain your own if you have a TI-83 Plus or Ti-83 Plus SE graphing calculator and some linking software that'll let you do a "ROM dump". TiLP is a good PC program to use for that purpose (if you can get it to work). Please don't ask for ROMs here, as I believe it's against the TOS to do so (among other things), but I believe it's okay to say how you can get your own copy legitimately.
