Title: introducing ME
Post by: freezway on July 30, 2010, 01:26:50 am
Im freezway, I program with axe now, much better than tiBasic. Its a pleasure to be here. I run 64 bit lucid lynx (ubuntu linux) but managed to install arch once AND get X and DE running. I also follow the ENIGMA/LGM (#enigma-dev on freenode, enigma-dev.org) which is like axe, but for game maker (yoyogames.com)

Props ot DeepThough for bringing me here.

Heya nice to see you here. Sadly I don't use Game Maker, though. Maybe I should give it a try again one day. Last time my attempt was failed but I did not use it for very long. I am more comfortable with stuff like TI-BASIC and Axe, though.

I hope you enjoy your stay :)

@DT, I lost the game

@DJ, thats odd, i am more comfortable with GM and compy languages than with tibasic or axe. No way to clear the ram.

I don't think that's odd, it depends of people opinion. I would have to agree about the RAM Clear part (although in BASIC it's harder to cause a RAM clear unless you use ASM libs). It might be due to being used to TI-BASIC for so long though (I've been doing calc programming for 9 years, the first 4 being non-stop and the 5 others being on and off). I didn't like computer language much, personally, same for calc assembly. If I ever went back to PC game creation, it would have to be something like GM or RPG Maker (preferably 2003 or VX). I think it depends of people. There are a bunch of people over here who are more comfortable with z80 assembly.

Anyway I hope you enjoy calc stuff regardless. Also make sure to check the forum rules (http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?action=ezportal;sa=page;p=2) :P

ENIGMA is freakin' awesome! Altough it's just too late for me, I dived in the XNA pool, very steep and deep :P

XNA is very deep and steep on the beginner curve.
Be cautious.

Are you trying to make your own indie games?

I think people should use what they are more comfortable with. If someone's more comfortable with XNA, he should use XNA, if he prefers ENIGMA, he should use ENIGMA. Cross-platform compatibility is always good, though, but if you just can't manage to achieve something using a language or tool and can do it much easier in another...

In the end, maybe you can release the source code and someone can try to port it to other platforms if he wants.

Also let's try to not start software/language wars. Not that there are much of them right now, but I see where this can go.
