Yeah, I prefer clickpad too, and they'll be cheaper than the touch ones, since they've been around longer.

Why clickpad? Here are the options I am considering:

TI Nspire with TI-84 keypad (seems good, considering it)
Pros: Mouse, grayscale screen, large memory capacity, free TI-84 keypad and emulator, computer-like navigation, large screen, QWERTY keyboard, Math Print OS, USB connection, good price ($117.99)
Cons: None so far

TI 92 Plus (kinda dropping the idea)
Pros: Powered by AA's, large screen, much like a portable computer, large QWERTY keyboard, quite powerful, more memory than 84+, low price, Pretty Print, USB connection
Cons: Outdated and discontinued, low price because discontinued

Casio Prizm (I am really considering this one)
Pros: Color screen, picture plotting, textbook-style display, large memory capacity, USB connection
Cons: Battery life seems a bit short, not a TI calc (bye bye Axe and everything else)

Believe me, the mouse is not a pro. It sucks (IMO). And no nspire has a qwerty layout. The prizm is nice too, but it does have a slower processor, both in mhz and in architecture, than the nspire's ARM CPU. Still, though, both are extremely powerful, and you prob. won't have regrets from picking one vs. the other. They're both significantly better than the 92+ in raw power.

BTW, Nspire OS 3.0  has 3D graphing, and the new Nspire CX, while having no 84+ keypad, has a color screen (but no ndless for it is available yet) and it's hard to get one right now, since they're still pretty new.

Out of curiosity, why not an 84+SE?
PS: I really like your userbar for Chrome.
Edit: The reason for the lack of a qwerty keyboard is that the rules governing standardized tests specifically prohibit devices with Qwerty keyboards. TI learned that the hard way and they're not going to make that mistake again.

The prizm is a lot more open than the nspires, TI's now made up some 2048-bit signing keys...
Also the MP OSes are horribly unstable--I had 2.55 on my calc for just a few hours and got multiple crashes and a BLOD without even leaving the homescreen :P

Also, the nspire's 84+ emu has multiple errors, and some things won't work properly iirc

That's one of the reasons for the clickpad :P OS 1.7 uses OS 2.46, which is fine, and has its own ndless.

The 92 thru V200 weren't designed for High School students. They were designed for engineers, wnich is why, at the same time, they made the 89, which is allowed on the SAT. It's not on the ACT, though, because of the CAS algebraic functions. There wasn't really a mistake made, from what I've seen.

84+s are really cheap secondhand nowadays, and they're nice enough calcs. Don't get MP for them though. Bad idea. Also watch out for calcs with lower RAM, as they can't run certain programs.

Ok I'll update the list in my sig. This is kinda turning into a different topic: over which calculator is the best.

I've made my decision on which calc to get: TI-Nspire clickpad :hyper:.
If I ever need the keyboard or touchpad (probably the keyboard) I'll just get the touchpad keypad. :)

Well, the Prizm definitely has the better OS of the two, and a better BASIC language for programming in. Also, consider the ease of use in connecting it to a PC for files. an nspire uses special software that I have come to loathe, and the prizm uses a flash-drive like approach that, while a little slower in actual transfer, saves many headaches.

 Which one to get? The PRIZM :) or the Nspire :(.

Edit: Decision made. TI-Nspire. Not sure whether clickpad or touchpad because I know the touchpad edition has geometry and spreadsheets and a keyboard and a grayscale screen. Tell me if the clickpad has these.

Both have identical software, including geometry and spreadsheets. Also, if you want, you can have both by buying another keypad from TI.

See, the hardware of the two is virtually identical, so you can use a touch keypad in a regular nspire, and a clickpad in a touchpad nspire. The only thing is the touchpads are only supported from OS 2.0 upward, whereas the clickpad supports all OSes.

So, get the cheapest one you can find, and get ahold of all 3 pads, and you're set.

Yeah, the NSpire with 84 Plus Keypad will be your best bet. Just MAKE SURE you don't get a CAS or a CX, as the 84 Plus emulator is taken out.

That's very true. Plus, the CAS isn't allowed on the ACT.

Personally I would probably go with a 84+ or a TI-Nspire, but if you choose the later make sure it comes with a 84+ keypad. The 84+ has the widest range of games and programs, although some will not work on the Nspire 84+ emulator. 68Ks are nice, but the community is less active. There's also the Casio Prizm, which has huge potential and isn't locked down like the TI-Nspire.

84 also has AXE, which is very good for spare time. No opinions please.
