Not really new, but
« on: November 21, 2012, 04:59:01 am »
I've been around, of course, but I'm planning to suddenly get way more active.

Why, you may ask? Because other places are getting increasingly unpleasant.

A common pattern is asking a question about performance only to get a dozen replies saying that performance is irrelevant and you shouldn't care about and "we're not going to answer you until you prove you actually need performance". Pretty much guilty until proven innocent.

Also, I never received that bag of peanuts, so this topic is totally necessary :)

Nice to have you around Harold, and yeah I saw what you described above happening at some places. I ask a question about something, and people say I don't ever need to do that and refuses to answer me. Or on certain sites back in the days where ASM coders asked how to do something complex, and people asked why they wanted to do that in a somewhat innapropriate way.

I hope none such stuff happened recently (as in the last year) on calc boards, though D:. It is never really good when it happened in such small community where it's harder to convince people to continue doing calc stuff.

Here we always answer your questions no matter what or why. Actually, if you don't get answered, it's probably because nobody really know how to answer.

Anyway, even though you're a member since a while, welcome and have your peanuts :P

Well of course there is always the exception of if someone repeatedly asks basic questions already asked and answered a few threads above or below, where they'll be redirected to Google, but people will do so politely. Or if the user keeps double/triple-posting or his spelling is absolutely undechiperable, then he will be called out on it (politely of course, though) :P

Spoiler For IMPORTANT NEWS!:
Late last night, Quebec was invaded by a group calling themselves, "Omnimaga". Not much is known about these mysterious people except that they all carried calculators of some kind and they all seemed to converge on one house in particular. Experts estimate that the combined power of their fabled calculators is greater than all the worlds super computers put together. The group seems to be holding out in the home of a certain DJ_O, who the Omnimagians claim to be their founder. Such power has put the world at a standstill with everyone waiting to see what the Omnimagians will do...

Wait... This just in, the Omnimagians have sent the UN a list of demands that must be met or else the world will be "submitted to the wrath of Netham45's Lobster Army". Such demands include >9001 crates of peanuts, sacrificial blue lobsters, and a wide assortment of cherry flavored items. With such computing power stored in the hands of such people, we can only hope these demands are met.

In the wake of these events, we can only ask, Why? Why do these people make these demands, what caused them to gather, and what are their future plans...
