Title: Yo
Post by: akawarmachine on August 30, 2010, 11:46:03 pm
Hey everybody!

I just bought a TI-Nspire Touchpad for some math classes I'll be taking in college. I was curious if I could play games on it and that's when I stumbled upon this website. The thought of playing GBC games on my new Nspire got me really excited until I found out that I couldn't put Ndless on my calculator. I'm hopeful that the creative minds here will develop "Ndless2" for my newer OS Nspire. I will check back often for news and updates on the situation. For now I'd like to say "Hello" and wish the programmers "Good luck!"

Alex

You should be able to put Ndless on your Nspire now if you downgrade your OS (if that's the issue) which is possible no matter what OS you have, I believe. I'm not one of the Nspire experts though.

On another note, welcome to Omnimaga and I hope you enjoy your stay :)

You should be receiving your peanuts shortly :D

There was actually a program released recently that allows you to downgrade your OS to 1.1 (assuming you can find it).  http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/430/43033.html

Welcome here btw :D  Your peanuts will be arriving soon :P

Heya and welcome here :)

If you get a clickpad keyboard at one point, you could install OS 1.1 on your calc but then you won't be able to use the Touchpad with OS 1.1. However you may not want to buy another clickpad so that may be out of the question. And yeah I can,t wait for Ndless 2 too

It's also likely that his school will require the current OS. Welcome here by the way!

Welcome to the club, akawarmachine.  Here's your bag of peanuts.  I could not find any limited edition Rick Astley peanuts ...since they ARE limited edition, I seem to have run out of the 50 bags I purchased

@DJ Omnimaga - Are you saying that if I buy the Clickpad keyboard for my Nspire I could downgrade to an OS that would allow Ndless? I looked on the TI website and the replacement Clickpad keyboard is only $10. If that's all it takes I'll order it ASAP.

EDIT: My class requires a TI-84 Plus which I have the keyboard for, and I could get by just fine with a TI-83, so I'm not worried about an older OS.

Yes this is what I meant. If you are allowed to buy a new clickpad, do it as soon as possible, though, before TI phases them out. I checked the stores and I only see touchpads nowadays.

Well, there is one major drawback to using OS 1.1--the power management bug.  This affects all Nspires not manufactured in 2007.  In order to turn the calc on (or should I say, the screen), you need to pull a battery or reset the calc (pulling a battery is the only option in 84 mode).
