Title: KnightOS - A 3rd Party Operating System
Post by: KnightOS on October 10, 2011, 12:27:14 pm
Hello,
I make posts about and answer questions about KnightOS.  KnightOS is a 3rd party operating system for the TI-73, TI-83+, TI-83+ SE, TI-84+, and TI-84+ SE calculators, that adds several great features to the user's calculator experience.  With KnightOS, you have the power of multitasking, a tree-based filesystem, and more.  KnightOS is based on the powerful Knight Kernel, and open source kernel that gives it many of the great features it uses.  Keep in touch for more information on this upcoming OS.
Both KnightOS and Knight Kernel are in development and open-source, licensed under GNU GPLv3.  You can download the source code and get updates at http://www.sf.net/projects/knightos (http://www.sf.net/projects/knightos).
My presence here is, of course, at the discretion of the administrators, who are free to contact me regarding this account.

Do you know Sircmpwn?

I am, of course, SirCmpwn.  I'm only here to post about KnightOS, because I feel like it's a little stupid to keep such a large community outside of the loop.

You're free to post updates for KnightOS. Just be warned that if you post outside the KOS subforum (or this thread), you will be banned.

On an unrelated note, glad to see updates for this.

Understood.  Thanks for your leniency.

EDIT: I wonder if you could enable me to edit the first post of the KnightOS subforum threads?

It's awesome to see some more progress on this!

EDIT: KnightOS is no longer in "Discontinued Projects."

You're free to post updates for KnightOS. Just be warned that if you post outside the KOS subforum (or this thread), you will be banned.
This and also following forum rules inside the KOS board too with every forum members, including not telling staff how to run the site, especially considering the nDoom policy starts again next month.

Also to be able to edit the old posts, somebody would have to restore your former account then merge your current one with it. I do not think with the current setup it is possible to allow non-staff to edit other member/guest's posts in their own sub-forum.

Fair enough.  In the meantime, enjoy the updates and demos, and be sure to let me know what you think of it and anything you find out through testing.

Understand that I am not "back."  I'm providing information and support for KnightOS to Omnimaga, nothing more.

Actually I still sometimes tried to check on Cemetech for news on it, but I was awaiting for some sort of beta or demo that was functional (as in being able to run programs/games and check memory content or such things) before posting a news. I might eventually try the 83+SE version, although I can't guarantee when.

I guess once we finally got fed up with your nonsense and death threats and banned you, you needed to come back here. :P

Did he do it again?? O.O

(Note, I have no clue if anything else happened recently, other than we re-banned JoeYoung from here last night as he was hiding under a 2nd account)

Actually, I recall criticizing DCS and being banned, interestingly enough.  I was planning to make this account and cross-post the update anyway.  I'll post it on Cemetech when I get the chance.

It's good to see progress here for updates to KnightOS. An account like this I guess is good considering the circumstances.

Erm he has been rebanned actually, due to the motive that lead to the  2nd account (and ban evasion). For some reasons the account is still intact though. Updates are on Sourceforge and Codeplex now.

Oh. There's just a big gap in June - September where I wasn't active so I wasn't sure. Well that's not good. I never knew him much except for him winning the 2010 Axe Contest. And its quite sad this has happened

twice

He was supposed to be permanently banned before, so this was technically ban evasion. Add to that this (http://omniurl.tk/10828/197206/), and you'll see why he was banned again.

I saw that, but I can't see what posts they are referring to.

Kerm is referring to a history of incidents on Cemetech that led to SirCmpwn's ban there.

wow, he's just getting himself banned all over the place. Maybe he should apply for ticalc.org lol (just kidding, of course :) )

So, does that mean this project is discontinued?

Edit: Nvm, I see that it's in the discontinued section :P

The project itself isn't discontinued, only its support on Omnimaga and Cemetech is, since SirCmpwn is banned.

So he donated $100 to omnimaga and then started to say death threats and cause trouble to the point of being banned?

This is a long and messy story that may be best to discuss through PMs.

Er actually no death threats occured on Omni. What I think is that he was so restricted to do anything he likes by his parents in his childhood until moving out at 18 that he rebelled against authority over time and the freedom he got after moving out caused some sort of shock that made the rebelling even worse. Over Omni and Cemetech he restrained himself from doing anything that is against the rules when he was around, but after he moved out, this restrain slowly vanished and combined with the fact he's extremly opinionated about some stuff, it went to the point where he did pretty bad stuff that got him banned here then later there (twice).
I'm going to try to post a lot tonight to get to 300. Actually, only 8 to go :P
Try to not post just to post, though. Quality > Quantity

Also any idea why Sir's second account was never deleted? Is that because there are possible future plans to unban him? ???

No, we just never got around deleting him because rules rewrite and stuff. (As in, silly excuse not to delete him.) But we won't unban him and we never had plans to.

Can guests post topics or when it says the poster is a guest it is a way of saying "This user has been banned" like ashbad?

Aah ok, any idea if that's being done soon? Also does the rules rewrite includes French and other languages?

When someone is a guest, it means it was either a duplicate account that got deleted, the user was permbanned or it's a bot.

The rules re-write will include translations to other languages as soon as possible. We just have to finish the re-write :P
