Title: KnightOS Logo
Post by: SirCmpwn on September 20, 2010, 07:07:25 pm
Hello,
KOS needs a logo.  Let's hold a contest for the best full color logo you guys can come up with.

Do you want it to fit in a calc?

Yeah, and also what kind of themes are you going for?  Size?  Does it *really* need to be color or are you converting this into greyscale again :P

My bet is that in the file containing KOS, it will have that image, as well as in the OS itself it will contain the greyscale version oncalc.

It will eventually be converted to grayscale or monochrome, most likely, and it should be in full color as well.  This last one is important.  As for theming and size, it's KnightOS, so swords and shields and such would be wonderful, and size should be 200x200ish.
Be creative, compete a little :)

Do you want the logo to include the name "KnightOS" in the image somewhere?

That would be great, meishe91.

Nice guys, although in the last one, I think the text is a bit hard to read and you might want to try finding a way to get rid of the white outline remnants in the last one, since it might look a bit unprofessional. Also you both have a nice forum signatures :P

Oooh, I like kyllopardiun's.  I'm not a huge fan of the font though, could you change that to something more... regal?

yeah, the font seems kind of....graffiti-like? not sure quite how I'd put that either

Actually both my avatar and signature are very old ...
I mean they "concept" exists since 2002, I've done some changes through these years ...
to keep they in a way that I like

Do you have a font suggestion?

I've changed the text and styled it differently, so you may choose what's more like you really want...

I love them. My favorite would be the 3rd one, although I would reduce the 3D a little bit and make it more horizontal. The first and last ones would fit well too except you should remove the 3D at the top. Very nice job :)

Ah ok cool. I see you went the same way as me with avatars. My avatar pic is from September 2001, although it was not modified at all

I still have the old versions :

(http://images.orkut.com/orkut/photos/OQAAAE4L_X6LIjoQoYmpI2tFTXpIKAOQxol88v8-YoIM-KJj5l2rNif6mLalfrpgHMbwcvmUczIAIwb7ljCW9Q8eW-IAm1T1UFN4CqRVFBKHTtB5S6g_uyayeZhB.jpg)

I didn't like this one very much:

so I came back with the original ideia just some small modifications:

Then a bg:

and now:

PS: you should maybe try to do a remake in your avatar ;)
it isn't very readable and could look far better changing a few things in it ...

Ah looks cool. As for my avatar I decided to keep it that way since I felt kinda nostalgic. I feel it shows how everything Omnimaga-related started, even thought the logo isn't very good looking :P

Btw the real one is like this:

But avatars are limited to 128x128 so...

I also got the 2002 logo somewhere but bad compression totally ruined it for some reasons when I re-saved it...

Hmm, I like the 4th one, could I perhaps have a version without text to mess around with?

The text font (plus the 3D effect and blur) is indeed kinda hard to choose. But I love the shield and swords.

Well, i guess you are talking about Knight OS designs.
To be sincere, I don't use just one software, but what I do use more is:

Adobe Design Premium CS4 [Actually, more Fw than Ps {therefore the file format is png}]
and MGI PhotoSuite 4 Plantium Edition [this one is VERY old]

So I opted for the more simple text here, and I think I like it:

Well, I didn't like the OS in the shield ...
it need to be more clear, maybe just a little contour in it

Nice, it came out pretty good and fits pretty well :)

As for softwares it doesn't matter what you use to make something. It's how you use it that matters. I saw pretty epic stuff being made with Paint before. I admit with layers and special effects it's much easier to make stuff, though. As for my avatar, it was made in Paint Shop Pro 5, while I was still learning it (I started one year earlier, but on 100 MHz computers with 16 MB of RAM, so it was unreliable)

I think I'll stick with the version above, I love the sheild, and I like simplistic text better that exciting text.

Same here, although it depends where used. I feel in the current case, 2D text is better.
