Please post the languages you would like KnightOS translated to.
-
It's that far along? :D
/me can't wait
Anyway, definitely English and French. Maybe Spanish? It'll have the standard ASCII set, right?
And if you have time, Latin ;)
-
German.
-
/\Definitely Spanish(i've been setting everything i own to spanish to keep myself from lapsing)
also: does latin even have the proper words to describe "LCD" or "multithreading"? :P
-
Ancient hebrew. ;) i'm suprised your routines could handle multiple languages. Which mean they aren't completely written, are they? Either way, i think the languages given here are good. Spanish, english, and french are my votes.
-
german..? please?
-
It's getting closer. I think English, French, Spanish, and German are good.
-
What about Dutch? A lot of people around here speak dutch. Portuguest might be an idea, too, due to a recent upsurge in portuguese member registrations lately. SPanish is not common in the TI community but a lot of american speak spanish as native language and I remember back in the days about 90% of Calcg.org spoke spanish.
-
/\most people who speak português also know spanish, however. it's a good cover-all for everywhere south of the border :P
dutch is a good idea.

people who speak portuguese (LIKE ME!) are easily introduced to all latin languages ;)

Î can also translate, to FRench :p still not in spanish german or italian :/

That's easier for Sir, each person makes a translation to their language :)
aeTIos could make a german one, for example

oh! Sorry for double post but:
SirCmpwn if you make source code public, I know a little Assembly and can make a translated version easily. Agree with that?
Translated to portuguese
There are Rules (http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?action=ezportal;sa=page;p=2) about double posting. Here, let me quote it:
3: The only time double-posting is allowed (posting two messages in a row in the same topic) is either if there has been 6 hours since your last post, 3 hours if your thread has been bumped out of the New Posts page, 1 hour if it's a project update or immediately if you need to upload more than 10 file attachments at once. Otherwise, update the last post using the "EDIT" button. It will be marked as unread for all members (altough it won't bump the thread).
So basically, you should have waited 45 minutes, or edited your post.

Waited 54 minutes as you just said in IRC...
I'm sorry, and this time it didn't make sense at all...
-
Instead of doubleposting, usually we just edit our last post, unless it's been a day.
-
back on topic, i can help proofread the german version. i'm not good enough in german to actually make it, but i'm rather good at grammar so i can check to make sure it's all put together correctly
-
Okay, so here's the list:
-English
-French
-German
-Spanish
-Dutch
-Portuguese
All agreed?

Yes! I do, the main languages of technology (not the most spoken, though)
-
Agreed. I'm afraid none of my languages are insanely great, so no help there from me. Do you have people in mind to help you for each language.
-
Yes, Google Translate ;)
-
Yes, Google Translate ;)
That's not needed, I already said I could make the portuguese translation :P
-
I will worry about who's translating when it comes to that time. I just want to get an idea of what languages will need to be supported at this time.
-
Yep, I would love to see a French version.
Also, in my humble opinion, it's always a better idea to use real, human translators than Google Translate.
-
So will KOS be released separately for each language, instead of having language apps like on the 84s? That'll be a bit hard to update constantly...

The kernel would probably stay the same.

Okay, concerning several languages. Will KnightOS support accents on letters? ~~^´^´´´`´´```çççççç and other language characters?

SirCmpwn said that it supports all ASCII characters, so the answer is yes.

That's great, chinese characters, or that would be requesting impossible features? :P
-
Chinese and other such languages that use non-Latin letters would probably be tricky... Especially when it comes to displaying them in a 6px-font D:

Yes, understanding it would be really hard. In addition, I never saw any chinese or even asian guy around here, so I don't think they use Texas much.
Probably, they use Tesax :P
-
how about Bleep Bloop as an easter egg? XD
-
We had Bruce.55 but he hardly frequents the site at all.
-
The most recent Nspire OSes have Chinese characters. That's one of the reasons why the OSes are so huge. ;D
-

I'm Chinese and I think Deep is as well. ;) and then theres jsj, who is Asian, but i'm not sure what. ;)

Deep, yunhua (your name makes sense now!). You are chinese? hahaha had no idea

jhgenius01, etc...
But I'm pretty sure it'll be hard to add Chinese or anything like that. 50,000+ characters? And in 4x6 font ;D
EDIT: 13375P34K!
-
jsj and Yeong are from USA but they were born in South Korea. Jhgenius was born in China I think.
-
So basically, Chinese is out considering the huge number of characters. How many different combinations of 4x6 sprites could you even have? Is it enough to get 13375P34K. Wait, does that have a P in it? Oh, it starts with 1337. What?
Either way, lot's of characters.
-
Wut? O.o
Anyway yeah Chinese would be too large. See how large is the Nspire Chinese portion of the OS. I think Goplat said something like 800 KB.

I think you understand it, though, here is an translation:
Leetspeak-> elite speak
lol :P
-
Oh I know, I just can't see the relation between chinese and leetspeak :P
-
no, I cant too haha. maybe he thinks only 13375 5P34K chinese??

I've seen a screenie of TI NSpire chinese, it's hard to input symbols and it's not very useful because of the keyboard.
Besides being too large, i's not very important due to the lack of chinese users in modern ocidental technology
-

Oh, didn't notice that at all. It took separating them to realize.
