i started playing minecraft multiplayer yesterday
then i got this idea that omni can have its own server
how about that

Well, a lot of us were playing, back in the days when everyone was playing, but we never really had an official server, just a bunch of members who ran their own servers on their servers and everyone were playing on them.
Does any of the servers we had still exists?

well i was thinking more of a server where omni members can together play

I used to run a server, but my laptop lagged and I endured for afew months, but I have a new laptop, I could dedicate my old laptop to the server

Yeah there used to be some community-ish servers. I'd like to try all the new stuff they put in mc.

What I always wished is that every Omni user would just use the same server, rather than getting their own just for the sake of having admin powers and to fuel their ego. Maybe it would allow an Omni Minecraft community to thrive, and I don't think each member's friend would mind going on our server, although I think people should require special privileges in order to be able to destroy parts of the world, to prevent griefing.
On Cemetech, they all use the same server ran by Kerm and it seems to work. Of course Omni could also join that one, although I wonder if that many extra people building stuff at a different location of their map would result in too much resource usage?

we can have a set people setting up the basic map before it is opened to omnimaga members

I think this would be a great idea, I have a dedicated server if we would like to set one up? ;)

Sounds like an excellent idea. I'd like playing Minecraft with Omnimaga members. But as DJ said, there would need to be humility, submission, and teamwork for it to work. It works well on Cemetech because Kerm rules the MC server firmly and exclusively (plus Comic, the 'mini-Kerm'). That being said, I run my own server too. :)

I'll star setting one up! Have the address soon. So, survival, creative, adventure, mini-games?
What do you guys want?
(A survival trust system is fun and builds character and relations between members) ;)
To prevent what DJ said with power hungry admins, we could have a board of server staff. :P

I guess we could have the same ranks or something like that as on the forums.
But still, if you have a power hungry admin, you can just go on another member's server.

But I think that defeats the purpose of having one Omnimaga server.
Oh and turns out I actually can't host it. >:/

I'd be glad to join one. But my computer can't really host one for tens of users.

It was decommissioned because lack of interest... :P It hasn't been deleted though, and the server's (VPS, not MC) is still running. Once the withg move is made, I'd be happy to sell stake or even the entire server. Why sell? Well, because the price is really lucrative... *wink wink* ;)
