Title: Minecraft server help [SOLVED]
Post by: epic7 on January 15, 2012, 06:12:42 pm
Does anyone here know how to make a minecraft server?

I used this:
http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Linksys/E3000/Minecraft_Server.htm (http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Linksys/E3000/Minecraft_Server.htm)
to help.

I think I've succesfully set up a static ip adress, and I copied exactly what it said to do in the port forwarding menu.

But when I checked here, (http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/) it said the port was closed D:

I tried to use my external ip anyways to connect to minecraft, but of course, it failed.

(minecraft_server says "Disconnecting Epic07 [/192.168.1.1:61252]: Outdated server!")

Is there anyone with experience with this?

Well, its an alternative to the actual thing, as i dont have a connection good enough to host servers i cant! Hamachi runs off its own so my signal is somewhat high when i use it. If i could use official i would.

you are using a 1.0.0 server when you need a 1.1 server

Moar problems:
Anyone know how I can get my ip to stop changing?
My ip adress frequently changes, which makes it hard to get people to visit my server D:

That's something you need to work out in two places: Any routers hooked to your home network, and your ISP. The latter may require a higher internet plan than you have, but maybe not.

Well what ip is it?
It it the one people log on with, or is it the one you connect to the internet with?
try this. http://portforward.com/help/setup_static_ip_address.htm

I have that. It says the ip is static.

The ip is the one I get when googling "ip" :P

did you make sure your IP from your ISP is static as well? If so, then your IP should not be changing. (That's what static IP means :P)

ISP = your Internet Company. IE Comcast, Frontier communications, etc. If they have you assigned as a dynamic IP (Which is extremely likely) you'll have to convince them to make your IP static. Understand, that this is basically the same process for them and their servers as it was for you and your home router, just in a different place.
