Title: {Electrokinesis}
Post by: {AP} on October 16, 2008, 08:22:27 pm
Well, I'm a techno/trance artist officially.
The name is: {Electrokinesis}
I'm new to the program I use (Fruity Loops) and I've been self-taught.
I've had no previous music lessons of any kind and no help with the program I use either.

Yet, still... I'm slowly coming up with some impressive things.
Even though I'm juggling music making, programming of MANY things in multiple languages, life, girlfriend, AND the last couple of years of highschool.

Anyway, without further ado... you can listen to my music at my myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/electrokinesisx) (don't need an account to see and up-to-date) and my website (http://cbanarchy.webs.com/) (not updated yet...).

Thanks a LOT mate.
That means something coming from you. =D

Alright, I have a new site for sharing my music now.
Imeem Profile (http://www.imeem.com/electrokinesis)
Imeem Playlist (http://www.imeem.com/electrokinesis/playlist/eX6Ip3hT/electrokinesis_music_playlist/)

Also, I have a new song. It's a remix of a Fable song (can't remember name right now).
Anyway, here's it is.

Cool, I'll check asap. Btw did you thought about getting an account on http://www.showcaseyourmusic.com/ ? Some people on TIMGUL got an account there and altough view count may not get as high as on Youtube I still got lot of comments within the few months I am there. However what sucks is that there's no friend list or subscription system for when your favourite artists add new songs

Hm... I really like the whole friends/favorite artist thing so I'll stay where I am for the moment.
But I'll keep that site in mind. =D

I'm working on another video game remix now.
Just having trouble with finishing it up. (might have to scrap my current progress and restart)

(EDIT: Well, I remixed an entirely different song while thinking of ideas. Here you go!
{E} Puyo Puyo - Intermission with Remix (http://www.imeem.com/electrokinesis/music/cdZVKA87/electrokinesis_e_puyo_puyo_intermission_with_remix/))

(EDIT2: OMG almost a remix! I can't think of enough stuff to put in to make it one... so I'll count this one as a cover.
{E} Columns - Clothos Cover (http://www.imeem.com/electrokinesis/music/zh3iBQOr/electrokinesis_e_columns_clothos_cover/))

(FINAL EDIT: It's come to my attention that you can only hear 30 seconds previews on Imeem if you're not registered. So, I've added an alternative to you lazy people. Here. (http://www.showcaseyourmusic.com/electrokinesis))

lol I often have this happening. i expect to do a song in particular, but I end up getting the wrong sound but it sounds good so I end up doing a totally different song.

I don't like Imeem because I have to switch to a different browser when I visit it because for me in Opera it doesn't play the songs

gonna add these songs to my 80+ new songs to listen pending queue

It's here (http://www.showcaseyourmusic.com/electrokinesis).

Also, I'm now updating my website (http://cbanarchy.webs.com/).

wait, by registered do you mean signed?

I'll try to check whenever I get some time
also if you want your songs added on Omnimaga (providing they are not remixes/covers of songs not made by Omnimaga staff (video game remixes are fine though)) I will be willing to add them, altough they will be converted to 128k to save diskspace

They would be in Downloads->Music->Our Own Work

EDIT: The music player speeded up things and allowed me to skim through all the tracks. Some nice stuff there, but most of your tracks have no basslines. You should add some basslines (with enough bass) in track 1,  4, 5, 6 (well, track 6 has bassline but I think bass should be stronger, like, adding a bit of low frequencies to it), 8 and 9. track 8 gotta be my favourite so far. I think louder kickdrum or stronger one (like the one in my song called Everest or something like in Cascada songs) would fit pretty well. Your style is pretty original so far by the way

I'm not ENTIRELY sure...
I have it registered in SNOCAP (http://www.snocap.com/), which basically makes sure that I'm the only one with legal rights to sell my music.
It also allows me to set up listening rights for Imeem (main reason I got it).
Plus, the more people listen to my music on Imeem, I'll actually start getting paid. =D

Otherwise, I'm not sure of EVERYTHING it entails... I know I can set up a store with it though.
But, that will happen later.

As for them being added to Omnimaga... I'd say not yet.
I gotta see whether or not I plan on pursuing this as a possible career of sorts or if I truly just wanna share my music.

Knowing me, the decision won't take long... just see how long it took me to decide I needed a subforum? =P

(EDIT: As for the bassline... yeah, I know. It's a problem I'm having. I can't figure out which bass instrument to work with and proper techniques for making the bassline.
I have always felt my songs weren't really 'complete'... but I wasn't positive of what needed to fill that hole.
Also, thanks! Yeah, I've been trying to develop my own style from the start, but I'm just having trouble mastering my songs.)

(EDIT2: Oh, and track 8 was a gift for my girlfriend at one point. Though, surprisingly it was my easiest song to make... (other than the VG remixes).
I have a few other songs, but they're old and I'm kinda not sure if I should even bother.)

Oooh ok  I see, I will wait a bit then. I'M unsure how copyright works though. As for music on Omnimaga usually like Un Posse band from which speler is part of, they plan to sell their music but they have an agreement between speler and Omnimaga that Omnimaga can offer the songs currently in our archives to be downloadable for free. MY suggestion would be maybe have shorter versions of your songs on Omnimaga (not necessarly all) if you plan to pursue this as a carreer but make sure your label lets you redistribute your music like you want so we don,t get in trouble. Since 2007 I no longer buy electronic music at all. I don't pirate either, because 99% of the new stuff being made is bullshit IMHO. I got ripped so often in the past 4 years when buying such music that today I mostly listen to old stuff I alerady have or if it's new stuff it's almost always freeware music. So if a new artist emerges and he doesn't want to offer any preview of his work for download (even if it's just 2-3 mins version) I don't take any chance of buying an album that will collect dust in a week. If I have a preview, I can at least decide if it's good or not and buy it.

Of course that's up to you though, I would wait a bit if you aren't decided yet

for sub forum we generally don't offer sub forums for music, as staff usually post about their stuff in the general music section, because usually people pay less attention to music on Omnimaga so multiple categories for it might be unjustified.

Back on labels, the day I'm gonna get signed if i ever decide to sell almost all my current work I will probably reupload all my songs, except my most popular ones in 96 kbps bitrate and shorten the free versions. I may even choose 64 kbps bitrate lol. People will know what they are about to buy but for optimal quality they will need to buy it. I also had the idea of requiring people to register an account to download stuff on Omnimaga, like I was supposed to do the day the site would reopen, but I'm unsure yet. Of course you will not be able to do anything about pirating though. People are gonna upload your tracks on Youtube and p2p sites and we can't do anything about it. This is why I wouldn't do music for a living

By the way that snocap site seems interesting. How much does it costs to register? And is it complicated to setup or is it complicated for customers to buy the stuff (and secure)?

Free to sign up, it's simple to get the music on there.

Though, other than that, I have no clue.
I haven't tried it out yet.

I only used it at all so my music could be streamed at full length on Imeem.

Aah ok, kinda like another one I had for a while (altough I lost my password and they never sent me the reactivation email to reset it... tactic to get all the money I guess...). I might check it out. I only have an account on Playlist.com and showcaseyourmusic.org right now. On myspace I use the playlist.com player, since their player only allows 6 songs

i like the melody in Nighshade. I hope you add some bass to it and louder kickdrum :)

the 8 bit Greensleeve song is cool too, lol it would fit well in a RPG village probably if there was a christmas theme in the game

And the other one is nice too.

mhmm, the greensleeve song in one of your YT videos sounds different than the one linked to in this topic, at least the synths used. I like the one in the video better, but unfortunately there's talking through it. If you still have the file could you post it?
