Hey all! I'm back after a long time of no activity (school is very time consuming this year).
So, I've been playing around with some music software lately, and I found out that I am actually decent at composing.
These two songs are semi-finished, meaning they are finished for now, but I might come back and improve them later.
Any questions, comments, concerns, criticisms, 42s, (the) games, rickrolls, or (blue) lobsters?
-
Hey, welcome back! ^_^
!peanuts

Oh! It's my second coming! (halo of light descends upon my head... then shatters into a million pieces).
-
Well, back on subject, the songs sounds pretty nice, good job ^_^
-
Thanks! =)

Ah, well done Binder News! And welcome back!
What software did you use to make these songs?
I think I like the first song a bit better, but that's personal taste. They both sound great!
-
FL Studio. Cracked. I do plan to buy it, but don't have the money right now. So I'll stick to thr cracked version until then =(.
-
Okay, here they are as mp4 files, for anyone who's interested (there's no difference in the audio, just in the audio container).
Also, here's a preview of my newest song: Frozen Stealth (might get a new name later).
-
Wow I wonder why they're MP4's yet they function like MP3's?
-
Because all they have is audio, no video.
-
I liked everything about your first post but one thing.......
U MADE MEH LOSE >D:
-
mp4 is a container I think, so it can contain both audio-video or just audio.
-
^^^^^ Correct
-
Ooh nice! Hope you're making progress on these awesome songs!

I like them, but my favorite is the 2nd one actually. I think in the 2nd one you should maybe add a bass, kinda like in the 3rd song or maybe using the instrument in the first (without reverb) as bassline, but of course much less loud. In the first one I think you should reduce the volume of melodies actually so it doesn't drown out the percussion too much (which seems to happen to many people).
By the way what I found out is that for certain music styles, buying the music software isn't often the main issue because sometimes they got cheap versions available (Sony ACID Music Studio comes to mind, MTVMG too, but MTVMG doesn't support VSTis) and others are freeware (such as LMMS). The problem is often how you also have to spend hundreds of dollars on virtual instrument plugins and all that crap. For example if I wanted to produce metal music using pro guitar VSTi's, I need to buy Shreddage and Kontakt, which is like $300 together IIRC, add to that plenty of other things, and freeware VSTs often do not sound realistic enough.
Also you should upload MP3s instead of M4A and MP4 files, because I think the latter two can only be opened in iTunes or Quicktime.
-
Thanks for the suggestions DJ. I'll try them soon. Also here is another new song: Synth Horse (better name needed).
Please ignore the random beats at the end, i'll upload a fixed version tomorrow, but for now stop it at about 1:25.
Also, I'm pretty sure u can open mp4 files in windows media player. It works for me.
EDIT: song ends at about 2:08.
-
Oh I was saying MP3 because it's a more universal format and can be opened anywhere. MP4 and M4A are Apple's proprietary format, I think, so anybody who do not have iTunes or Quicktime installed will not be able to listen to your music. Ogg is also a nice format (even better than Mp3 actually), but then it's the opposite: iTunes/Quicktime cannot open Ogg files. <_<
By the way I think you can upload your songs in the download section, if they're 4 MB or less, although I'M unsure if there was a post requirement. Just make sure to put them in the same section as Yeong's music if you do so, though.
-
Ya. I like mp4 b/c its better by far than mp4. But ehat do u think ov the song?
-
It sounds nice actually, although I kinda prefer the other one it seems. :)
-
Okay, new version of Synth Horse (I already had this one done I'm just uploading it now).
-

Oooh wow nice. I'll listen to them when I can. Are these all different to the other ones you showed before in earlier posts?
-
Yes, all of them except Digital War. Synth Horse was renamed Digital War, but it's not the same version as I have posted before.
-
I like them Binder News and nice to see you around again :)
As for Introduce the Beat, my suggestion would be to make sure during the intro that the snare is in sync with the rest and maybe extend the bassline that starts halfway into the song so that it starts earlier.
Also Primordial Beat might need choir/synth chords and a bassline.

Hey all!!! I've been working on more songs, and they're turning out pretty well so far. ;)
Note, these are Dropbox downloads now.
Dance Groove (https://dl.dropbox.com/s/43g1gzxw3tmy2aa/Dance%20Groove.mp3?dl=1)
Electric Wave (https://www.dropbox.com/s/azxdjke2tqps0ot/Electric%20Wave.mp3)
Origins of Time (https://www.dropbox.com/s/f2xobm8cmz9eaum/Origins%20of%20Time.mp3)
Fly Away (https://www.dropbox.com/s/5nl6fs9xxhmbjun/Fly%20Away.mp3) (I wrote this for my mom for Mother's Day :) )
I think that's all of them for now.
Constructive criticism is always welcome, as long as it's constructive. (Yes, I know that's redundant).

I like that 2nd song lol, with the video game style. Would definitively fit well for a level inside a ship located undersea or in outter space. Some parts reminded me of Unreal Tournament actually. I also like the style of the 3rd song. That would would fit well in a jungle level (where there are cliffs and mountains or something). For some reasons when listening to it, I got reminded a bit of Sonic Ice Cap zone. For song 4 I think maybe the acute sound should maybe be slightly less loud (not too much) and maybe start/end less abruptly (I wonder if it would be better with more reverb too)
