Title: Pimathbrainiac and Epic7 play Gershwin's Three Preludes for Piano
Post by: pimathbrainiac on June 26, 2013, 11:19:35 pm
So epic7 and I are going to collaborate to play Three Preludes for Piano (three pieces played one after another) by Gershwin before the summer's out

I'm going to be playing prelude 2, and epic7 1 and 3.

We'll post our videos all at once when we finish in this topic.

I might try to join you, but I'm already working on two pieces.

Well, you ARE the piano deity of Omnimaga, so we might just have to let you play whichever one epic7's tiny hand's can't play ;D

All these preludes have 10ths in them, when I can barely reach a 9th
I'll have to practice chord rolling technique :P

I might try to join you, but I'm already working on two pieces.
So was I :P
So if anyone wants to take over #3 for me, that's fine.

Btw, here's the composer himself performing the preludes

Maybe I should try this. I'll listen to it first, but yeah I haven't played much this year, so I could be a little rusty.

EDIT: Omg I've heard the second one before. And it's in one of my piano exam books! Not that I learned it. :(

Don't you think about taking my part 2!

It's the only one I can play...

If someone were to take over a prelude, it would be #3, because pimathbraniac and I have already started 1 and 2.

I intend to play #3, sorry I didn't state that before, I know. :)

Progress! I can play the first 2 pages (out of 4) of the third prelude, but at a slow pace of course. I am currently trying to learn the last 2 pages (which will be more complex). Then it's a matter of putting it together, and increasing the playing speed (though the speed recommended on the score I believe is a little too fast to really enjoy the music)

So, I'm getting there, rather slowly, the third and fourth pages are trickier and are taking me longer to learn.
Overall it's not a very hard piece, it just needs some time, that's all

That 2 out of 4? Great! I admit I haven't been practicing much last week, but getting back to it, and putting the piece together...
EDIT: I can reach a 9th pretty comfortably (including black keys 9th eg: C# -> D#), a white keys 10th is the limit but I need to roll it to play it properly.

2/3, not 2/4. I'm playing prelude 2, remember?

[bragging]I can play a major 10th (and minor 11th with 1 white and 1 black)[/bragging]

Yep, Prelude 2 is 3 pages, I didn't check properly, I thought each prelude was 4 pages, my bad :D

Minor 11th?, whoah u and your big hands. Nah that's pretty normal sized :)
